        "Ayu."

She was stopped by the voice calling her from behind. Seeing the usual pinkette striding towards her, Ayu tensed by her presence.

"Do you have a minute?" Sakura asked.

She gave a brief pause. After departing ways from the group for lunch, she knew that her friend with a pair of emerald eyes would chase her - perhaps interrogate her about her involvement with Sasuke.

"What's up?" Ayu eyed her carefully, a bit nervous of what was about to come.

It was only the two of them by the school's shoe lockers, and no one was in sight around them. This, however, made the brunette even more alarmed of their seclusion from the public.

Sakura, who wasted no time for small talk, just went straight to the point without hesitation. "Are you and Sasuke...?"

        This again.

She didn't finished her question when she noticed Ayu's eyes lowered by her assumption, although she looked a bit unsure. But it was enough for Sakura to get it.

So she bit her bottom lip and shy away her head away.

"I-I see...," but a low, sad smile reached the corners of her lips while staring at the ground contently, "so you do like Sasuke."

Ayu's eyebrows met in worry as she felt the pain seeping from Sakura's throat. Nothing but guilt resides in her heart as she came to realize how her situation was the same Sasuke and Satoshi.

"I'm sorry, Sakura," she muttered sadly while twiddling her thumbs at the bottoms of her uniform. "It wasn't like that in the beginning. I didn't know I-"

        "It's okay."

Her brown eyes glanced up, witnessing a more genuine smile stretching across the Haruno's face.

"I know," she answered. "I was aware that Sasuke might like you in the future and you would feel the same for him, too. I mean, I saw the way he looks at you today. It's different than how he looks at everybody. It makes me jealous."

It almost made her laugh as an uplifting smile came upon her, encouraging the pink headed girl. "You shouldn't be jealous over something like that. Sasuke is a different person overall, despite how he acts towards me. I'm sure everyone noticed it."

"Ayu." Then the brunette stopped by Sakura's firm voice. "You don't have to be modest."

She drew a blank look at her with parted lips

"That time when you encouraged me and Sasuke to go to the dance, I appreciated it. I know you're trying to be a good friend and I get it, but... I knew deep down that you two would come to realize how compatible you guys are. But with me, I know I don't stand a chance against you."

Sakura surprised her with her maturity. Never she would've thought that the pinkette would like to stay friends with her.

"Although I'm in love with him, I simply don't mind if you are, too."

Ayu didn't realize how strong her feelings were for Sasuke, until Sakura convinced her that the ravenette needed her more than anybody. With an accepting smile, the brown headed girl reminisced the moment when he kissed her and that proves she has nothing to hide.

        "I am."

*~*

Later that day, Ayu felt more than just relaxed after encountering Sakura and realizing her true feelings. She was more at ease, more welcomed and happy. She just accepted her love for Sasuke.
