"Today, I will be announcing that you're partners with the person sitting right next to you."

Did he hear him right? He did.

        Fuck.

Sasuke immediately slapped his hand over his eyes in a senseless manner. After Iruka's announcement about improving everyone's grades, he figured a group project would be dandy. But taking most of his time to do a project with his least favorite person? It has to be a coincidence.

While shifting his gaze at the girl beside him, she had the most energetic expression with much dismay than anyone else in class. Ayu groaned loudly like an angry deer. He must be so special to her.

"Stop whining. I'm not satisfied with this either," he told her. "You don't see me complaining about it."

"You know, I almost wished for Naruto instead of you," she fumed as Sasuke witnessed some steam rushing out of her ears. She held the most ape look she can pull although he wasn't affected by it. It's quite attractive.

He squinted repulsively at her and her flared nostrils, "Oh really... 'Cause I thought the same thing." Underneath his desk, a foot kicked the side of his calf in order to prevent him from continuing on with his insult. Did she really kicked him?

In reply to her actions, Sasuke instinctively pulled on her cheek and almost yanked her off her chair. No clue how their instructor didn't notice but it amazed Ayu how a man like himself can just do that without second thought.

"W-What the hell was that?!" she quietly exclaimed while holding her swollen cheek. "You can't just do that to a girl!"

"Please. I don't see a girl here," while huffing a sigh, Sasuke can feel her eyes trying to intimidate him. He commented cooly, "I swear. I don't know what Satoshi sees in you. You're so untamed."

He's totally making fun of her, and it irked her.

"You're the only one who thinks that!" she raised her voice by an inch and pointed at him with a dangerous finger. But she flinched when his finger flicked her hard on the forehead with an emotionless profile.

"You're being awfully loud," he argued until the tension left his face while looking at her. "I guess you're back to being your normal self, ne? You didn't try calling him, did you?"

She suddenly stopped touching at the spot where he poked her, startled by his words. Then her expression changed solemnly as her eyes shook cautiously by Sasuke's sharp observation.

"Of course not. I will only annoy him," she said to herself lowly.

When Ayu got home yesterday, she compelled herself not to worry about Satoshi so much, avoiding to dial up his number and call him like a psychotic stalker would have done. Now, she feels a whole lot better after getting the thought of him out of her head.

"Like I said, you were just overlooking it," Sasuke added and then turned to the front of the classroom to end the conversation.

The bell rang and everyone exited out of the room in groupies until Sasuke saw Ayu beginning to stand up. A certain pink headed girl pounced over her table, gushing about how unlucky she is to be paired up with Naruto in the group project. Now that he thought about it, Ayu as his partner would be a challenge. Unlike him, she isn't the most brightest kid in school.

"You must be so lucky to have Sasuke!" Sakura continued to spurt. 'Til this day, it was obvious that she has some interest in him.

Ayu just laughed nervously, not sure whether to reply positively or not. In the back of her mind, she wasn't too fond of pairing up with him, knowing how less of a help he will be when it comes to studying.

        "Am I lucky?"

Sasuke hummed in a grouchy manner, pretending like the topic they were talking about is far from his ears, and began to walk out with Ayu right behind him. "The sooner we finish this, the less time I have to be put up with you and your annoying mouth."

        She gave no reply.

Sasuke led her out of campus and approached the parking lot where his car is parked. Her mouth just dropped. It's what Ayu have pictured; an expensive-looking black sports car, polished and washed. It compliments Sasuke's all mighty, cool vibe as he drives it.

Despite Ayu's nosy hands touching every part of the interior in his car, they made it to his place safely. Sasuke gotten out of the driver's seat and noticed the brunette's shocked state once her eyes fell upon a wide, grey house built in front of her. She closed her gaping mouth and followed after him.

The rumors were true, she thought, that Sasuke grew up in a wealthy family which it explains about the car and some of the things he owned are marked by a particular fan symbol. But she never expected him to be this rich.

"I'm home," Sasuke called out and the first person who greeted them at the door is a tall, youthful woman with long midnight hair and pale skin, similar features to his. When she realized Ayu's foreign presence in the house, she was stunned.

"Oh! You brought a girl over," she said while her charcoal eyes fell on her. She snickered playfully, "It's about time. I was wondering when you'll bring such a cute girl to our family."

At this moment, the Uchiha felt like he needed to get away from this ridiculous subject. Clearly, Ayu said no more by his mother's interpretation.

"Mom, no," he answered flatly. "She's just a mindless idiot who's going to be working on school projects with me." An unexpected slap met his back again. He didn't move.

"You're paired up with me for a reason! So I'm not mindless as you think I am!" she yelled, only to hear his mother laugh lightly behind her hand.

"You guys seem to get along pretty well. I'm Mikoto. What's your name?"

"My name is Ayu." she smiled. Mikoto began to head back to the living room.

"Well, Ayu, make yourself at home. If there's anything you need, let me or Sasuke know, okay?"

Ayu was assured after his mother left her and Sasuke alone by the front door. After that small greeting, Sasuke led themselves up the black wooden stairs. They've entered through a room where it consisted a low table and a long couch. The brunette never guessed it to be an average room but assumed to be the guest room.

"Wow... It must feel like paradise whenever you come home from school," she told him while glancing from wall to wall.

"I wouldn't call it that great," he said quietly to himself.

When Ayu averted at the back of his head, she can see partial of his face and saw something lingering in his expression after saying that. Lonesome? Frowning slightly, concern read over her honey-glazed eyes as if her words hurt him in some way.

Sasuke walked over, sitting nearby the table in the middle of the room. "Let's get this project started."
