This is so fucked...
Sprawled on his bed, the room was filled in darkness with an arm laying over his closed eyes. Sasuke never thought love could hurt so much, not in this way when he knows that the girl he's in love with belongs to someone else, none other than his best friend.
He thought it was supposed to free him from his stress; from his painful experience he've dealt with instead this kind of love is... only one-sided, unfulfilled, and unrequited.
Out of every girl, why does it have to be with Ayu? A girl who has her heart already been claimed by someone who isn't him.
An unnerving sigh breathed from his lips as Sasuke groan discouragingly to himself while rubbing his face in shame, thinking about the moment he had with Ayu from the dance, the incomplete kiss, and Satoshi witnessing it. He want to escape it all, and be out of love this instant.
Buzz buzz...
The sound from the front door alarmed him as Sasuke bolted up from his bed to greet whoever is outside of his apartment. The second he peeped his eye in between the crack of his door, his breath was taken away.
Standing by the front step with her book bag hoisted on her shoulder, Ayu hugged several books in her arms shyly - even if she looked utterly distant from him. He forgotten about their scheduled study session.
Leaning on the door frame with a tiresome, energy-drained face, Sasuke spatted harshly as the memory of her and Satoshi walked in his sight. "You're late." His angry attitude startled her therefore she didn't dare to speak.
He blew an unmotivated sigh and then leading her to his room. Ayu followed him with her head hang low to her chest. She never felt so uncomfortable around him before, not like this.
"You don't have a lot of time to study since I'm going out with Naruto later," he said as his knees fell to the carpet, sitting by his low, round table.
The brunette just nodded and mimicked him hesitantly so they can finally start on their homework. But while they sat next to each other awkwardly, Ayu couldn't find the courage to ask him for help in doing her homework - not when the silence is only filled with their pencil scratches and Sasuke's disturbed expression on his face.
She managed to croak a statement. "I almost forgot." Eventually, she got his attention by her shuffling as she dug into her school bag laying beside her. "I forgot to give you this."
In her hands was a miniature boutonnière with a half-bloomed rose as its scarlet petals sprouted slightly against the white ribbon attached to it. He was supposed to wear that to the dance.
He stared at it questionably, probably asking himself what is her intention in giving him it. He had high hopes but sadly discouraged himself when it was just a kind gesture from her. Although, he didn't refuse it, pinching the little spec in his hand and examining it.
Then the air between them took a turn.
"Er, I know it's sudden but...," Ayu began nervously. Her heart pounded erratically by the words she wanted to murmur. "That night-"
"There's no reason to bring that up," he stopped her from saying any more.
But Ayu clenched her pink cheeks at his words and continued. "I know, but... I just want to make sure."
So then he rose a brow.
"Do you like me?" Then it struck him. As her soft, brown eyes aimed down at her lap, Ayu balled her fists over her knees as she recalled the incident happened at spring dance. "I've been wondering that ever since. Sometimes I feel like... I'm hurting you without even realizing it."
