"DADDY!"
Nagsisigaw ito dahil hindi makatulog. Naghahanap kasi ito palagi ng kwento sa kanyang daddy.
"Yes, baby?" nakangiting sagot ng daddy.
"I want a story!" demanding niyang sabi.
Napaisip naman ang ama kahit na alam na nito ang gusto ng anak. "What kind of story?"
"About angels!" sigaw niya habang namamangha. Ito kasi ang pinakapaborito niyang story sa lahat.
Wala siyang pakialam kahit ilang beses nang paulit-ulit ang kwento dahil ito ang most favorite niya.
"Once upon a time, an angel was sent by God to Earth. His mission was to teach a girl a lesson."
"Then what happened after?!" lumapit ito sa kanyang ama habang excited. Tila'y nabitin dahil tumigil ang kanyang daddy sa pagkuwento.
Tumingin kasi muna ang daddy niya sa kanya at ngumiti. Natutuwa ito dahil kahit paulit-ulit na ito ay interesado pa rin ito.
"The angel tries to protect the girl always."
"Really?! That's cute!"
"If I'm not mistaken dad, you told me that the girl was misguided here on earth because of bad people!"
"They are devils!" dagdag pa nito.
Tumawa naman ang daddy niya at hinagod ang kanyang likuran para matulog na ito.
"Stop calling those people 'devils.' In my opinion anak, they are just misguided. We are all imperfect, but I know all of us still go back and realize our mistakes. On that day, we start to repent."
"You meant to say that there are no bad people, dad? How about the criminals? Aren't they bad?"
"Criminals are bad, but I also believe that there's someone who can make their hearts soft. For example, their loved ones. It doesn't also mean they commit crimes; they always do that. Others have reasons like they can't afford to buy food for their family. We will always find light in life. Sometimes, there are criminals, because a criminal created them. For example, the politicians stole the money that should be used to help them."
"Pero 'yun nga baby... hindi porket misguided ka, forever ka nang ganon. Tayong lahat ay mahahanap din ang tamang daan."
Humikab ito. "I'm already sleepy dad, but please keep ongoing..."
"The girl fell in love with the angel."
Napamulat ito. "Is it possible for a girl to fall in love with that creature?!" nagtataka niyang tanong.
Alam niya kasing impossibleng maging magkasintahan ang isang anghel at ang binabantayan niya.
"Ellen, hindi literal na anghel na nasa langit..."
"An angel could be your family, friends, classmates..."
"Or it could be a guy!"
Bumangon ito at ngumiti sa ama.
"Do I have an angel, daddy?"
"Yes, because everyone has an Angel..."
"So, you are my angel dad?"
Ngumiti lamang ito sa sweetness ng kanyang anak. Pagkatapos ay niyakap niya ito na parang ayaw niya mawala at hinalikan sa noo para makatulog.
"It's slumber time, baby. Good night!" Pinitik niya pa ang noo nito.
"Wait! Dad, you forgot to tell me what's the name of the girl!"
Tumayo pa ito kahit madilim na.
Bago lumabas ang ama at iniwan siya sa silid ay tumawa muna ito.
"Her name is Ellen..."
