"When does it normally come up?" I asked, my knee's were tucked beneath my arms, resting my chin on top of them as I waited impatiently for the box to come up. Minho had sat beside me, his day off, allowing us to spend time together. But my focus had been on the new arrival, and not telling him what had been going on between Gally and I.
It had been four days since our actual kiss, and we hadn't talked much about it since. Each time I'd spot him working, my face would turn red, remembering the feeling I'd gotten when he kissed me. And how much I couldn't wait to do it again. We hadn't talked about what we were, but that didn't matter, we were good, and happy.
"Soon, it's— why are you smiling like that?" Minho asked, leaning forward to get a good look at my face. I hadn't realized I'd been grinning like an idiot as I stared directly at Gally, who'd been preoccupied with gathering wood for tonight's bonfire.
"Like what?"
"Like you do when Fry make's stew." He stated, flicking the center of my forehead.
"Ow, I am not smiling like that." I retorted, smacking him in the arm.
"Then why are you smiling?" Was I not allowed to?
"I'm excited to meet the new greenie, maybe it'll be a girl." I shrugged, it wasn't a lie. I had hopes that a girl would come up, they'd sent me afterall. But a part of me knew, it was going to be another boy.
"Maybe." Minho mumbled, throwing his arm over my shoulder and pulling me to his side. "Why does he keep looking over here?" Minho muttered, my brows furrowed in question, seeing he'd been pointing to the boy I'd spent half my time avoiding.
"Cause he's obsessed with me." I said, glaring at Curtis who only waved innocently in response, not taking a singular hint that I wanted absolutely nothing to do with him.
"He's not a bad guy, not a complete dick like Gally." Apparently Minho had spent too much time in the Maze and not enough in the Glade. No one thought that, at least I hadn't. Gally was practically a teddy bear compared to Curtis, who I'd wanted to kick in the balls on several occasions.
"You're delusional." I muttered, moving out from under his arm. "He's—" the alarm began to blare, forcing my body from its place and jumping back. While I moved away, each of the boys moved closer, ready to open the box the second it stopped.
The alarm was loud, a stabbing at my eardrum's—hadn't they scared us enough?
"You okay?" I felt a hand place at my back as I stepped away, Gally's deep voice hitting my ears, soothing compared to the echoing screams. I looked to him, nodding slowly as I took in a deep breath, it's just noise.
"Yeah, it was a lot louder than I expected." I answered, stepping away from his hand and smiling to him. "You can go, I'm fine." I assured him, knowing he'd have to assist the new arrival. Galy was hesitant, conflicted between staying with me and going to stand beside Newt.
