Back to the kiss. Backtrack a little, back to where the chapter, State, ended.

Bellona

I was kissing him. He pulled me closer and now we were moving backwards. He stopped suddenly and fell backwards, taking me with him. A sound of shock left me as we fell back down on the couch. He yanked me to him and pressed our mouths against each other again. When I rolled my hips against him, he pulled back. "Shit."

I did it again. "What?" I asked, feigning oblivion.

He shook his head. "I just remembered I have a gift for you."

That made me stop. Then I was off of him, pushing away. "Go on then."

He lifted himself on his elbows with a laugh. "You get me all worked up and then demand I just move on?" His eyes darkened a shade. "I'll get you back." He got off of the couch and turned back, heading in the direction of the door. He came back with the green bag I had seen earlier.

He was holding it in both hands and with a grin on his face. "You know your books that burned in the hotel?'

I nodded slowly, eyes glued to the Barnes & Noble lettering on the front of the bag. I looked up at him. "You didn't."

He nodded eagerly. "I did." He walked over to me, set the bag down and then plopped onto the couch. "Open it."

I pulled the bag over to the other side of the couch and sat down before rummaging through the bag. The familiar feel of paper came between my fingers and I pulled out The Sweetest Oblivion from the bag. I looked up at Amo. He was watching me, a pointer finger between his teeth and a look of nervousness on him. "Do you like them?"

Did I like them? He bought books for me and he's asking if I like them? Just the image of Amo scrolling through the isles of a Barnes & Nobles, taking romances to the register, had me smiling. "Do I like them?" I had to restrain myself from hugging him so hard I'd throw him to the ground. I swallowed. "Yes. Yes, I do." I cleared my throat softly, going back to the books. "How did you know which ones to get?"

"When I went to your house to get your stuff I counted the books missing from the shelves. Coming back I asked Google a bunch of times what these covers were, what the order they were in, and if I could get them from our local books stores." He straightened in his seat, reaching over to pull the bag over to him. "I'm pretty sure my Google history is now things like, 'Hey Google, where can I buy The Maddest Obsession?'" He pulled out the next book. "These must be in a bunch of different orders because the store didn't have them all. I've already ordered the rest so they'll come later."

My fingers were twitching. I wanted to hug Amo so badly that I was getting antsy. I was sure my face displayed happiness but I didn't want him to think it was because of the books. It was because he remembered and I know that sounded lame, but it meant something to me. I brought the bag over to me and began rummaging further, pulling books out that I knew were on my TBR but had no clue how he knew. "How did you know which books to buy?"

Amo ran a hand through his hair, messing it up and I loved it. "I called Elio and he helped me set up something called a Goodreads, I think? I found your account and looked there." His eyes came to me and he didn't blink. "You're grinning."

I placed the books back and shrugged a shoulder. "I do that when I'm happy." I wanted to hug him.

He was staring. Then he yanked out his phone from his pocket and began clicking. I raised a brow. "What are you doing?"
