Chapter 18

"Hey kid! where are you?" – the man wearing glasses and has blonde ponytail called out as he looks for his companion, they are in the city buying groceries "I told that kid not to go anywhere without me, he knows how dangerous it is to be out here in his state" – the man mumbled gritting his teeth in irritation on the fact that the person he is looking for is nowhere to be found "Atsushi!" – he called out again this time using the young boy's name.

Meanwhile, somewhere near the riverbank, the young boy with silver hair is sulking as he throws small pebbles into the water "Why does Kunikida-san always treat me like I'm a little child" – he mumbled until his eyes caught something or someone floating down the said river "What is that?" – he curiously stands up and squints his eyes to make out what is the black thing drifting along with the current, after a few seconds his heart sank when he realized that he is looking at a man "It's a person!" – he exclaimed.

The young boy is in panic he looks around if his companion who he called Kunikida is around or somebody who can help him pull the man out of the water but to no avail, so he had no choice but to jump in and save him.

Both the drowning man and the young boy who saved him are soaking wet, he lays the man and cautiously assesses his condition "Is he still alive?" – he mumbled, the scent from the man gave him a sudden warm feeling "This smell, it's somehow..."

A familiar voice shouted from the other side "There you are, you troublesome kid! Atsushi I've told you not to wander around without any—"

"Kunikida-san! I need your help quick!" – the silver-haired boy cried out. 

Kunikida noticed the unconscious man wearing black clothing lying next to Atsushi so he walks fast to get to the other side. He gasps as soon as he sees the man up close, because of his work as a detective he has already an idea of who could he be but didn't dare to say anything to the other─the man in black is from the Port Mafia.

He calmly asked him "What happened?"

"I was sitting by the river when I saw something weird floating, then I realized that it's a man so I jumped in and saved him" – Atsushi explained in a hysterical tone "I-is he dead?"

Kunikida crouches down to examine the man "There's a lot of bullet holes in his body, he must've lost a lot of blood and by the looks of it he's been in the water for more than a day" – he said but when he checks the pulse he was surprised that the mysterious man Atsushi fished out is still alive "I can't believe this, he's still alive!"

"For more than a day?!" – Atsushi could not believe that a person could still be alive after being shot multiple times in the body and being on the water the whole day.

"We need to take him to the doctor" – said the blonde male who quickly carried the man.

They bring the man to their office.

The Armed Detective Agency is a group focused on solving crimes that are considered too violent or difficult for the metropolitan police to handle.

"Will he be alright?" – Atsushi asked.

"The doctor will be here soon. You should change your clothes so you won't catch a cold" – Kunikida said while standing beside the bed in the infirmary room of the agency.

"But Kunikida-san"

"No more buts, go ahead and change your clothes" – the tall man said to which the young boy oblige but before he was able to go out of the room "Atsushi, we already talked about wandering around without supervision" – he added.

Begrudgingly Atsushi walks out of the room, he heads to the main area of the agency where the other agents are, he was greeted with worries and frantic questions.
