Chapter 31

On their way back to the agency no one from Dazai or Chuuya speak of what happened when they encountered the Port Mafia which left Kunikida and Atsushi both baffled.

The mission was a partial success because they were able to capture the entire member of the Sheep and to recover the smuggled weapons, but one thing that they unable to get is the file containing the information of both the Armed Detective Agency and the Port Mafia.

The next day, Chuuya hesitated to enter the detective agency because he doesn't know how to face Dazai after what happened yesterday, in his mind he should not be worrying about the Alpha since they don't have any special connection, but in his heart he knows that the brunette was obviously hurt by what he witnessed.

Begrudgingly, the Omega opens the door and sees the members gathering in the receiving area of the agency like they are looking at something, he didn't bother to check what it was and went straight to his work table.

Chuuya sighs as he rolls his eyes "What they are up to this time?" – he can't believe how comedic the members of the agency are, he looks around and didn't see Dazai which somehow gave him relief and also a bit disappointing feeling.

"Alright enough you guys, you are scaring her" – said Yosano trying to disperse the crowd.

"She is so cute" – said Tanizaki.

"She is like an angel" – Kenji commented.

"What is her name again?" – asked Atsushi.

The doctor smiles and proudly introduces the young girl with her "Her name is Kyouka" – said the doctor.

The eight-year-old girl has long dark hair in pigtails and she is wearing red traditional kimono.

"Say doctor, why did you bring her here?" – asked Kunikida as he pushes his eyeglasses up.

The doctor explained that she is from an orphanage that had to close because of a lack of funds, other children were adopted and others were transferred to different shelters. The young girl named Kyouka was taken by Yosano to foster until she finds her new family.

While everyone is talking about the child, Chuuya slouches down at his table not paying much attention to the subject of the conversation, until his eyes somehow landed on the young girl and he saw how afraid she is, maybe because she is in a new environment and she is overwhelmed by everyone.

"But Yosano-sensei, I know you are aware that the agency is not a suitable place for any children like her. We attract a lot of unwanted attention" – said Kunikida.

"Yes I know but Dazai-kun suggested it" – the doctor answered.

That made Kunikida twitch his eyebrows and with an irritated tone he said "That damn bastard, always making decisions without consulting everyone. I'm gonna give him a what for when I see him today"

"Dazai-san? But why?" – Atsushi tilted his head wondering why on earth would the brunette suggest fostering the young girl.

"Speaking of Dazai-kun, I haven't seen him since your mission yesterday" – said Yosano "What happened?"

Both Kunikida and Atsushi didn't know how to answer the question because neither of them knows, on the other hand Chuuya closes his fist tightly. There was a moment of silence as the other people in the agency waited for anyone to answer "I will be creating a report about it later" – Kunikida said dismissing the topic.

The scene was interrupted when the door opens "Good morning everyone!" – the Alpha greeted with a wide smile on his face, his usual face when he is with them. His looks are far too different from yesterday.
