WHEN THE PAST COMES TO JUMPSTREET

CHAPTER 16: NEW LIFE

Tom really didn't know where he was going to go.  He had stopped by to say goodbye to Damian who was back to work.  He went in to the station.  Everyone was happy to see him. Hoped he was back to work.  Tom said "no just here to say goodbye to you all."  They wanted know where he was going.  he said he didn't know he couldn't stay here in the town where he had too many memories of Sydney.

Captain wanted to see him in his office.  he tried talking him into staying.  But Tom said "he couldn't or he would destroy himself. Only way to clean up his life and move on and let Sydney go was to move on to a new place.

Captain said "Where you going to go"  Tom said "I don't know just drive."  Captain said "Well I do have a friend of mine that I went through Vietnam with, he's a good guy, runs a department, you might fit in well. It's an undercover department, young looking officers. Here is his card.  I can call and put in a good word if you want me to.  Tom said "thank you sir. I'd appreciate that."

Captain did and told Tom to go talk to Adam Fuller. At 21 Jump Street.  Tom said "bye to everyone and they all went out one last night" Next day Tom set out in his Mustang for his new life. New job.

Sydney meanwhile was getting huge.  She was miserable.  Could not see over her stomach.  needed help getting up.  She had made some friends from the church.  Most people at the church were kind and welcomed her.  Some of the women talked about her behind her back getting pregnant not being married.

Sydney when she first started going with Joe and Lila was invited to a young adult  class, she felt unsure if they would accept her, but one of the girls and Sydney hit it off and they became friends.  She invited Sydney to go to an outing with the young adults class. To the movies and to dinner.  Sydney agreed to go.  Joe and Lila thought it would be good for her to get some friends and get out of the house.

Sydney had went to the bathroom, which she had to do a lot.  She came back but she heard that some of the girls were talking about her, saying how sorry they felt for her, getting pregnant how ashamed she must be and no man. Her friend said you guys are being awful judgmental for a Christian Sunday school class. Maybe try being nice."  Sydney came back but she didn't enjoy the movie.

Her friend drove her home.  She said "Sydney I'm sorry if you overheard that"  She said "It's ok. I'm pathetic I got pregnant and my boyfriend didn't love me."

Sydney was scared of how she would be able to take care of 3 babies, she wanted to be the best mom, she loved them with all her heart, and she was scared of giving birth alone.  The ladies of the church and Sydney's friend Roxanne gave a Sydney a baby shower.  Sydney was in the bathroom and came out and some of the ladies were saying they felt so sorry for her having to get 3 out at once. One said that her labor was so painful she decided one baby was enough, she loved her daughter but no more and to think Sydney would need to do 3 births at once with no man to support her.

Tom went to Jump Street met with Adam and accepted the job offer.  He met the team.  There was 3 other officers. Two guys Doug Penhall, Harry Ioki, and one female Judy Hoffs.  Tom hit it off with all of them.  Doug had a girl friend Dorothy and Dorothy wanted to meet Tom and asked Doug to bring him home for dinner.  Dorothy wanted know if Tom was single or had a girlfriend, cause she wanted set him up with a friend of hers.

Doug asked him and Tom said "no he and his girlfriend broke up. But it was his fault. He took a case and when he got out she was gone back to her ex and married him"  Doug invited him over didn't tell him about the date.  Tom got there and was uncomfortable when he saw it was a set up.  Tom said sorry ma'am. But I'm not interested in dating anyone. I'm focused on my job . Starting my life over."  The girl said "Well we could be friends can't we"  Tom said "no offense but I'm sorry."  Tom left.
