WHEN THE PAST COMES TO JUMPSTREET

CHAPTER 29: FAMILY TIME

Next morning the kids woke up early to watch cartoons.  Sydney made them their breakfast, then they were getting ready.  Sydney was fixing the girls hair, Tommy was playing his game on Sydney's phone.  

Madison said "mommy we had so much fun last night, all your friends are so funny."  Morgan said "yes but we like Tom the best mommy,"  Sydney smiled.  She said "I see."  

Madison said "mommy was Tom teasing us about not knowing who Bruno was?"  Sydney said "I don't know. Maybe."  Morgan said "mommy do you think Tom is cute."  Sydney said "you girls we need to hurry and get ready."  Madison said "that means she does sissy"  They laughed.  So did Sydney.

Sydney took the kids to daycare and then went to work.  Tom was waiting outside with flowers.  Tom walked up to Sydney and opened her car door for her.  She got out.  

She said "Tommy you really don't need to buy me flowers."  Tom said "I know. I want to. I think I should probably buy you flowers every day for 3 years, to make up for "  Sydney said "Tom you don't need to.  They are beautiful thank you. I love them, but you don't need to."  Tom said "I want to."  Tom leaned in for a kiss.  Sydney kissed him.

They were kissing.  Sydney broke the kiss.  She said "Tom your kisses are probably going to get me fired."  Tom grinned.  He said "how's that?"  Sydney said "Well first off they make me weak, but secondly they make it where I have a hard time focusing the rest of the day cause I keep reliving it."  She smiled. Tom laughed.  He said "yeah well your kisses are going to probably get me fired, cause I'm doing the same thing. Thinking about it all day long."  Tom smiled.

She kissed him.  Tom said "So how are the kids this morning"  Sydney said "happy.  The girls both told me that they like all the guys, but you the best."  Tom smiled.  Sydney said "and they want to know if I think you're cute."  Tom laughed."  he said "I kind of want to know the answer to that too"  Sydney laughed.  She said "Well I told them that we needed hurry so we could leave."  Tom  said "ouch"  Sydney said "But they said that means that yes I do."  Tom laughed.

Tom said "Sydney I love you but I really need to go. Thanks to you we got a lead but we need to check it out."  Sydney said "glad I could help. Let me know how it goes."  Tom said "I will. I'll call you later."  Tom kissed her. A long kiss.  He hugged her.  His head lost in her long hair and neck.

Tom said "Damn I don't want to go."  He walked to his car.  Sydney said "Hey Hanson"  Tom stopped and turned.  She said "Be careful"  He said "I will don't worry."  He said "See ya. I love you."  She said "I love you too."  He waved at Judy as she was getting out of her car and left.

Sydney watched him drive away.  Judy said "hey girl that was some goodbye kiss"  Sydney laughed.  So did Judy.  Sydney didn't say anything.  Judy said "you ok"  Sydney said "yeah I just worry that I'm rushing things.  I hope I'm not putting my wants and love for Tom over the kids I worry. I love Tommy so much, and can't stay away from him, but I  don't think he realizes how his life is going to change with 3 kids. Tom's a good man, I just don't want him to be overwhelmed and feel pressured. The kids are a handful at times. It's hard work. Hardest thing I've ever done."

Judy hugged her.  She said "honey I know I get what you're saying but Tommy loves you so much and he loves those kids.  Tom hates the fact he missed 3 years with them, he wants to be a daddy, and he knows it's not going to be easy and fun all the time. You're being a good mom worrying about it, but I really think Tom knows what he's getting into.  Now I'd be honest with you, I think if it was Dennis you might have right to have concerns, but Tom no. You don't need to worry.  Sydney he loves you. He was miserable without you, and so hurt. He couldn't get over the pain."

Sydney said "I know but I'm not that same girl.  I mean when he fell in love with me. I was a teenager who thought Tom was a hero, thought Tom was a white knight riding in on a white horse my hero. I spent all my time probably worshipping the man. I still feel the same, but I can't make him my focus, my attention"  She said "he knows that. He knows you're not that same girl. He knows you're a woman, you had to grow up fast. Let me ask you something.  Are you worried that once you and Tom start dating, you are going to find that since it's been 3 years you're no longer in love with him, you don't like his changes."  Sydney said "no definitely not. Judy I will always love Tommy. He will always be my hero. I know he's changed I'm sure, but he's hotter than he was, sexier, he's grown up too. He's all man now. Not that I didn't mean he wasn't a man, but when I met him he had just graduated high school year before."
