The kids were playing, Tom and Sydney on the couch. Sydney was asleep on Tom's shoulder. He watched her sleep. Stroking her hair. Kissing her head. He stopped.
She woke up. She said, "hey you stopped" He laughed. He said, "Sorry, was going to get a drink from my cup." She said, "Tommy" He said, "yes" She pulled him by his shirt collar and kissed him. They were kissing.
Tom said, 'um we better stop before" Sydney said, 'yes I think we need to see if Judy can come watch the kids and we can go to your house." He said, "i think you have a great idea baby," Sydney kissed him and went to go check on the kids and see if it's ok if Judy comes. They were happy.
Tom and Sydney left. Sydney said, "So am I being a bad mom Tommy, sneaking away to be with you" Tom said, "no you deserve a break, and Judy loves them they love her. They are well looked after" Tom kissed her, picked her up while kissing her, and carried her to the bedroom.
They made love. Tom was holding her after. She said, "I'm going to call talk to the kids." He said, "ok" They talked to the kids. He said. "Syd" She said, "yes." he leaned on one shoulder over her. He said, "are you sure you want to marry me" She said, "yes definitely sure." She kissed him, pulled him onto her. He stopped. He said, "I'm serious Syd. Can we talk before we make love again" Sydney said, 'Sure." He said, "I just am asking because I know it's going to be a change for you and the kids. You've been on your own with them for 3 years." Sydney said, 'Tommy no I want you with us all the time, so do the kids" He said, "I know, it's just you haven't talked about a wedding date." She said, "I guess I was waiting for you." Tom said, "Sydney, I'll marry you today. I already went and got the license. Just waiting for you to sign it." Sydney said, "Tommy, I'll sign it. I didn't know." He said, "I don't want to rush you into this. It's fine if you're not ready." Sydney said, 'Hanson I'm ready." He said, "ok, then how much time do you think you need to plan our wedding, with Judy and my mom helping you. She's coming in tomorrow." Sydney said, "Tommy I don't need anything but you and the kids"
Tom caressed her face, kissed her, and put a strand of her hair back that had fallen in her face. He said, "honey, I want you to have your dream wedding. I don't know don't all little girls dream about weddings. I mean our 2 already are with their wedding barbies" Sydney laughed. She said, "They love them babe." She kissed him. He rolled his eyes. She laughed. She said, "just think of what you have to look forward to, your teenage daughters." Tom said, "don't say it out loud. Please, Dread that I'll be standing at the door with my gun chasing away all the boys" They laughed. he kissed her.
Sydney said, "Tom my dream is marrying you, the only man I will ever love, the love of my life." She kissed him. Tom said, "So did you dream about weddings though when you were little." Sydney said, "I guess." Tom said, "well mom wants to buy the wedding dress for you, if you will let her. I told her that I don't know if you would, and not to push you." Sydney said, "if she wants to, I'll let her, but Tom I feel bad, because that's not her responsibility as the groom's mother" He said, "i know, but since your parents aren't in the picture. She wants to. I truly believe she feels terrible about her part in us being apart and wants to make amends. She told me that she can't believe how sweet you are to forgive her and not hold a grudge and not let her see the kids. Most women honey wouldn't do that. They would ban her from seeing the kids" Sydney said, "All that would do is hurt my kids. They are all that matter to me." Tom said, "I know that, so be honest with me. My mom, you see her as my mom, the kid's grandma, but that's it then, you don't see her as a mom figure." Sydney said, "Tom let's just talk about our wedding. If she wants to buy the wedding dress, I would be so appreciative and thankful. I don't have much money to spend on my salary, I need pay my rent and put in savings for the kids and food." Tom said, "hold it, I'm going to support you and the kids ok. you no longer need use your paycheck for rent. Besides we are closing on the house soon." Sydney said, "I know. But I have a paycheck. Just saying I can't just go crazy on a dream wedding dress. Any dress will do. What matters is that I'm marrying you."
