WHEN THE PAST COMES TO JUMPSTREET

CHAPTER 55: HOME

Sydney and the baby got released from the hospital.  The girls were wanting to hold the baby and feed him.

Tom was helping with everything. He was becoming more relaxed, but he was still nervous.

Tom got up with the baby at night, so that Sydney could sleep.  

Sydney was watching Tom with the baby, in the middle of the night. Tom said, 'Kade, I love you so much, and your mommy is the best mommy, she loves you so much. I hope that I don't mess anything up. I've never taken care of a little baby before."

Sydney said, "you're doing fine babe" Tom said, "Kade, mommy was pretending to e asleep" Sydney laughed.  

Tom brought the baby to her.  She took him.  Tom said, "Sydney are you feeling ok" She said, "yes, I'm fine" He said, "ok, well you have been quiet today."  Sydney said, 'I have been thinking. Tom, I know that the kids want to go home, and you do, and I do so bad, but I don't want to fly with Kade. He's a newborn. Tommy I'm sorry. I'm not comfortable yet going home I know Judy and Dennis have to" Tom said, "Sydney, it's fine, we can stay here as long as we need, I already talked to Adam about it."  He kissed her.

Tom said, "So Sydney, have you given any thought to my idea, when we do go home" She smiled. She said, 'Tom, you are talking about the kids getting bikes" Tom said, "yes" Sydney said, "i know they would love them and be so excited, and I want them to have that, since this year has been hard on them, staying in, they miss their friends, and they had to have their 4th birthday here, without a party outside of the house. I'd like to let them have something they really want"

Tom said, "But you're still worried of them getting hurt."  Sydney said, "yes" He said, "Sydney, there would be training wheels. I will hold on."  Sydney said, "right, but how, with 3 of them at once you can't."  Tom said, "They take turns" Sydney said, "i don't want them falling off their bikes" Tom said, "Sydney, I don't either, but you do want them to learn how to ride a bike right" Sydney said, "yes of course, but I don't want them getting hurt either" He smiled.

She said, "I know I'm treating them like babies."  He said, "i love you for it. You're the best mommy."  Sydney said, "Also I don't want them riding their bike near the street, what if they think that they can do that, or they get their bike and just ride it without you, no, the bikes will have to be locked with a lock and you will need to give me the key and locked in the garage. I don't want them thinking they can just ride their bike" Tom said, "I can do all that"

Sydney had been home with the baby for 2 days.  The girls wanted help take care of the baby, but when they were there for one of the diaper changes, they didn't like it. They thought it smelled to bad.  Tom laughed. 

Sydney said, 'After I get Kade changed, do you kids want to have daddy help you hold him."  They were excited.  Sydney had them sit with Tom, then she put the baby in their arms, One at a time.  Took pictures.

The kids went to play. Sydney had the baby; Tom was playing with the kids.  Tom came to check on Sydney. That night Tom got up with the baby. Sydney asked Tom if he would care if she booked a photographer setting for all of them. Or just the kids if he doesn't want be in picture. But he said it would be fine for a family photo session, plus just the kids with the baby.

After a month passed, they went home.  The kids were so happy to be back home.  To all their toys, and everything they had to leave.  Even though they came home with a lot of toys, and some duplicate ones, they were all glad to be home.

The kids were playing, she asked them to come sit down, she needed talk to them.  So, they came.

She told them that daddy and I are so proud of you, how you handled this year, having to be away and follow daddy's rules. I know it was hard on you. And I want to thank you all 3 of you, for helping me with the baby. Helping carry or bring me Kade's diaper bag."
