"I wanted to free him just because and I also need him." For my survival, of course. He's here only male lead I can trust, and this is not the real world. Even if I can fend for myself, money, food, and shelter, the nobles could execute me at any given time. Historical fiction sucks.

"You..." Shit. Here it is. The decision. "I will give you my essence in one condition."

"Yes? What can I indulge the Almighty Black Dragon with?"

"You must take me with you." Huh...? Huh?!

"Pardon?" I glanced at him with a confused look.

"You would be in charge of me and I will give you my essence."

"What? I mean, it would be a great honor. But, what would this mere mortal can entertain you with?"

"Nothing. I just want to accompany you in the mean time. I am fascinated by this mere mortal who knows about the demigods even though all of them except for one has been eliminated." Fuck. I can't do anything, can I? "Rest assured, I will transform into a tiny animal that wouldn't be in the way." I inhaled sharply. "Well, do you accept my one and only condition?" Why do you even ask when I can't even have an opinion? I really need your essence so I could earn the acknowledgement of Darius.

"This mortal humbly accepts your kind gesture, Almighty Dragon." With that, I felt like my body could split into two.

I screamed in pain. What is this?! I could feel my organs getting crushed. My eyes could get plucked out at this moment. What is happening? I didn't know it would be this painful!

"Done. You have been blessed by my essence." He said, calmly. Can't you see I'm suffering here? Such a cold character. I know you're just a game character, but how can you be this inconsiderate.

"Milady!" What? Is that Adam?

He immediately ran towards me. I was on the ground, with my arms around me, huffing. I felt a warm feeling enveloped me. His coat in covering me...?

I looked at him only to see his glares at the dragon. Hey! Do you want to die?! Idiot. Even if I dislike you, I don't want you to die because of me.

He drew his sword and with a stern look and voice, he said, "I shall challenge the one who harmed my lady." What?! Stop it. I pulled a part of his clothes but instead he stepped in front of me.

"Wait, hold on for a moment." Adam didn't budge. He stood there, determined. "Stop, Adam. This Almighty Black Dragon has blessed me with his essence and now he's going to accompany us in our journey." He finally spared me a glance. "Everything is fine." He took a look at the dragon and wrapped his arms around me, helping me to stand up. This is the third time he saw me vulnerable. I should really have left him behind when I had a chance.

A lot of people had seen him with me. If I don't come back with him, they might assume that he had died because of me. My reputation would worsen and Bella would gain even more fame. I can't have that.

My stomach growled. My lips turned into a thin line. So embarrassing. Adam turned to me with a genuine smile, "I had our food prepared earlier, milady. We should eat lunch." He's really weird. The game had clearly stated that Adam doesn't show emotions to just anyone, if he does, it would be for Bella. Anyone would find that romantic, I mean, a guy only smiles for you? Anyone would feel special. What happened, though?

Did I change the storyline that much because of my reincarnation? Pfft, no way. One's story might change but one can't change as one might seem it out to be. Changing is not merely counting from one to a hundred. It's more complex and difficult than that. It's the most difficult thing I know.
