Chapter 28

We stepped into the bakery and heard a small jingle. I'll admit, I hadn't ever been to this bakery, because the only time I ever walked towards this direction was to go to work or home from work.

The bakery was small and very cozy. It smelled nice, had a very homey feel - likely from the hard-wood floors, small kitchen, and the several small plants throughout the area.

A girl, slightly taller than Fiz, walked up to the counter. She had short, orange-red hair, glasses, and wore a blue hoodie & white t-shirt, with a bunny design on the front.

"Welcome! What can I get you?" She asked. "I'm Luna, the owner of Honey Bun!"

"I'm Fiz, I'm here for a job interview!" Fiz stepped up to the counter, giggling gently.

"Oh! You're the one who applied earlier, right? Mind if I ask you some questions?" The girl asked. "Like, you didn't put down a last name, why's that?"

Fiz tapped her fingers together. "Well... I never really knew my parents... so I never really had a last name."

Luna and I made eye contact, both wearing a "yikes" expression, for different reasons.

"Ah, I'm sorry about that," Luna said awkwardly.

"It's okay! Don't worry too much~" Fiz bounced on her heels.

"Well, how much experience do you have?"

"I did a lot of traveling, and usually preferred to make my own food, so I've actually perfected my own muffin recipe!" Fiz giggled, clearly very pleased with herself.

"Very nice!" Luna nodded. "And how are you at dealing with customers?"

"Well, I've never really had a job like this before, but I'm really good at helping people!"

"Fiz is a very sociable girl," I noted, smiling softly. Fiz giggled and winked, causing Luna to laugh.

"That's very sweet of you. Why is it that you wanted this job, Fiz?" Luna asked, leaning on the counter.

"Well, me and Thomas are living together now, and I want to be able to help support the two of us," Fiz explained. "And I thought that, since I had done baking before, I could work here!"

Luna giggled, putting a hand over her heart. "Aw, that's so sweet of you~ Well, why don't I show you how we work some of the machines work?"

Fiz nodded, stepping behind the counter.

"Oh, you can wait here for her, if you'd like," Luna said to me.

"I will. Thank you, miss."

"You can call me Luna, I don't mind," She said gently before turning around and walking into the back of the shop
