Chapter 26

He can hear faint whispers around him but as time passed the whispers became more clear and loud. He kept his eyes shut and continued listening to the voices he recognized.

"Good job, Eind. You did not disappoint me. Expect your payment to be doubled."

"Thank you, sir. I also captured the man you told me about. Where should I confine him?"

"Bring him here. Let him and my nephew be together on their last moments."

"Yes, Sir."

Narinig niya ang pagsara ng pinto pero nag-antay pa siya ng ilang minuto bago magmulat ng mata. Bumungad sa kanya ang apat na sulok ng kwarto na may puting pader, bakal na pintuan at walang siyang nakitang ni isang bintana na nakakabit.

Only one CCTV and speaker is installed inside. Sinubukan niyang igalaw ang mga kamay niya pero wala ding nangyari. His hands are chained on the metal chair he's currently sitting at, he have no choice but to sit patiently while waiting for his life to be taken away.

"Where are you taking me?! Let go!"

Napaayos siya ng upo nang makarinig ng sigaw mula sa labas at biglang bumukas ang pinto. Two men entered, dragging inside a blindfolded man and chained it on the chair beside him.

Tinanggal ng mga ito ang takip sa mata ng katabi niya at laking gulat niya ng makita ang kanyang ama, ganoon din ang ekspresyon nito ng makita siya.

"Yrex..."

"Father."

"Why are you here?"

"I should ask you the same."

Silence filled the room and when the person he suspected behind all this mess showed up, he clenched his hand from rage.

"Finally! After years of waiting, you two are here. What a unique family reunion, no? I dressed up formally for this special occasion."

"I can see it clearly. A devil in suit." 

Imbes na mainsulto ay tinawanan lang siya nito.

"Don't be so harsh, Yrex. I'm still your Uncle. How are you brother-in-law?"

He turned to see his father's reaction but, none. Not even an ounce of emotion can be seen.

"What do you want from us, Criv?"

"Still the impatient one. Very well, I just want to claim what's mine. And by claiming, I mean the whole wealth of Sarmiento which belongs to me in the first place."

"Ha. Ha. Ha. Can't still get over the fact that my grandparents choose my mom to be their sole heir and not you? Hindi ko din sila masisi, I won't leave the company I built from scratch to someone incompetent and greedy son like you."

A satisfied smile escaped his lips when he saw Criv Sarmiento's pissed and mad face.

"You keep testing my patience, nephew. I tried to do this in a nice way but you made your choice. Eind!"

"Yes, Sir."

"Finish him first."

Napailing na lang siya. Isang gahaman at traydor ang magkakampi, hindi na nakapagtataka. Birds with the same feather, do flock together.

Lumapit ito sa kanya at hinila ang nakaposas niyang kamay bago siya tutukan ng baril sa noo.

"Kahit takpan mo pa ang mukha mo, hindi pa rin nito maitatago kung sino ka talaga."
