Chapter 29

(Hiddenstar's P.O.V)

"Why are you in our camp?" I growled, the chilly breeze from the recent rain was contrast from my now hot-temper.

"I told Brindlefur we should've attacked" Krestelwing snapped "but she insisted we wait because of them"

Krestelwing's tail flicked crossly to the entrance of the camp and through the darkness I could make out shadows of cats, lots of them. My eyes dropped to Hailstar who looked compeletly defeated, his head hung, his fur unkempt and his ribs sticking out awkwardly. Had Hailstar brought his whole clan to us?

"Please Hiddenstar, we're dying. There is no more prey in our territory, Leaf-Bare has killed them off. I've lost a life, an elder and an aprrentice" Hailstar muttered "we need your help, please, I beg you for forgiveness and mercy" his voice was sharp with fear and sincerity.

I stared at the thick furred grey tom, the tom that only a moon ago was my enemy then my eyes glanced over his warriors and their wide eyed apprentices. Some warriors looked ashamed to be here and others looked desperate, pride had not won this time.

"Yes" I meowed "But only until prey in your territory has returned"

"What?" Krestelwing snapped, I shot her a glare and she instantly silenced.

"But you must hunt too, I will not allow my warriors to bring you prey" I demanded, making sure my voice was heavy with authority and power, Hailstar nodded.

"Of course" he whispered.

"Brindlefur wake the warriors, Krestelwing wake the others. I have an announcement to make" I flicked my tail and the two young warriors bounded off in separate directions.

Surely I had gone mad, letting another clan into our territory but these plagues seemed to be forcing enemies together and even though Hailstar is an annoying, stubborn, brute I couldn't let him or his clan die...

(Hollypaw's P.O.V)

I was so odd seeing so many different warriors and apprentices milling about our camp, as if it weren't ours anymore but I shook away the feelings of resentment and thought about how terribly ill they must be and how the plagues had attacked them full force.

"Hollypaw!" Owlclaw called amongst the crowd of new warriors and apprentices.

I pushed through the crowd and managed to find him sitting beside Brindlefur and surprisingly Shalelight and a light ginger apprentice.

"Hollypaw, I would like you to meet Shalelight and her apprentice Rosepaw" Owlclaw introduced.

I couldn't help but smile at Shalelight and she exchanged the smile as well, humor glittering in her eyes, thankfully no one noticed.

"Hello" I meowed.

"Hello" Shalelight responded.

"Hi" meowed Rosepaw gently.

"What are we doing today?" I asked Owlclaw.

"Well Hiddenstar has decided we need to show Fireclan around our territory so we can all hunt together" Owlclaw meowed not seeming genuinely pleased about showing off his territory to his 'enemies', the idea didn't settle well with me either but I had to remember about Fireclan's struggle.

"Well should we go?" I asked.

"No we just need to wait for Creekhunter" Shalelight meowed.

"He's always late" Rosepaw put in trying to sound light and happy but you could see the awkward edge in her eyes and in the way she sat.
