Chapter 30
The clan and he Fireclan cats gathered around the bodies of the deceased, the heat of battle had not only managed to take Hiddenstar's last life but Whitemist's as well and Brindlefur was devastated. I was laying beside Ashpaw and Brindlefur (since sitting hurt too badly), trying desperately to console her but to no aveil so I stared at Hiddenstar and Whitemist.
They were dead, the prophecy had taken two more lives. One of a leader and one of a brave warrior but my heart hung heavy with remorse, I could have helped Hiddenstar and maybe saved him but at least I saved Sandtail...
Robinsong stood before the clan, she was shaking and her eyes were stormy and she seemed to be fighting off her dark emotions to be steady in front of the clan. Her kits, Wildkit, Puddlekit and Brightkit were not allowed to see the body of their father so they were kept in the nursery with Bumblekit, Pinekit and Shadowkit watching them because Dustclover wanted to say her respects too.
"This has been a sad, dark day in Iceclan. We have lost Hiddenstar and Whitemist in this battle against evil and though we won we have clearly lost..." she trailed, her amber eyes glittering with tears "Tonight I will travel to Moonflower and accepted my leader name and recieve my nine lives in Hiddenstar and Whitemist's honor"
"But you're nursing kits" a voice called out but the voice was so clouded with pain it was hard to tell who it belonged too.
"I realize this but I cannot abandon my clan, especially now" Robinsong adressed, her voice echoing Hiddenstar's authority with hints of her own determination.
A soft cheering began and grew until every cat was chanting, Robinsong would be a great leader I could tell but Hiddenstar's death was striking my heart though I was not close enough with Hiddenstar I felt as if we were... connected.
After the cheering stopped everyone gathered around the two fallen cats to pay their respects. I hobbled weakly to Hiddenstar and whispered "You were a great leader, I will remember you always"
(Robinsong's P.O.V)
I watched the clan meow their sweet goodbyes as thousands of things rushed through my mind; what would I tell our kits? Who would I appoint deputy? How would I carry on? I felt like breaking down and crying, passing on my leadership to another cat and just crawling into the nursery to die but something inside of me urged me forward, a spark of determination and will.
I padded up to Hiddenstar's lifeless, bloody body.
"I will miss you my love. Find good hunting in Starclan and watch over our kits" I murmured into his once soft fur.
Then I padded over to Whitemist and whispered into her ear.
"Good hunting, my dear friend. Find peace"
I waited a moment for almost everyone to settle then I picked out Rabbitwhisker and Hailstar among the crowd and signalled them over, they both came.
