Chapter 27 -Stormclan camp-

(Echobreeze's P.O.V)

My paws nearly sunk into the ground, the green grass was covered in water that reached a little ways past my paws. The horrid water had covered everything even our camp, drowning it with the water from the panel of creeks and rivers in our territory. Something had happened now everything was over flowing with water with no means of stopping.

I was returning from hunting with Frostfall, Poolpaw and a very angry Berryclaw. Each of us had two fish each, I suppose the good thing about the water was all the fish but the land dwelling prey (mice, rabbits, voles) were all dead and drowned, it was also hard to find somewhere dry to eat let alone sleep. The warriors den was getting leaky along with the apprentice den but thankfully the medicine cat den and the nursery were dry... for now.

"I swear if this water doesn't go away we'll be able to hunt fish anywhere" Berryclaw growled shaking his large golden paws.

"Maybe we'll grow gills and swim like the fish" Frostfall joked causing Poolpaw to giggled through the silvery fish she was carrying.

"I don't like it at all, I mean where is it coming from?" Berryclaw continued rambling.

Yes, where had it come from? One day the rivers were running normally and the next they were over flowing. I couldn't help but think about the plagues, was this how some of us were going to die? Through floods? I shook causing ripples to bouncing across the water's surface.

"I just hope it doesn't rain" Poolpaw meowed.

"Yes me too" I agreed.

It was silent again for a moment, just the splashing of the water against our paws could be heard then in the distance a screeching attacked and broke the silent air.

"Get back to camp!' the voice screeched.

The whole patrol whipped around to the sound of the voice. On the horizon a small white shape was haring towards us kicking up a large spray of water behind her.

"Cloudpaw?" Berryclaw muttered.

"What's going on?" Frostfall wondered.

Cloudpaw neared us quickly but instead of stopping she raced past spraying us with water and yowling over her shoulder "Get back to camp" in a panicked voice.

We didn't ask questions and bounded the short distance back to camp. My heart was beating and curiosity was filling my mind, what had startled Cloudpaw so badly?

The camp was gathered around Cloudpaw as she was yowling panickedly, I joined the crowd so I could listen to her.

"There's a flood coming! The water is rising, I saw it! I could have drowned and it's coming for camp" she screamed, gasps spread around and questioning glances were shot at Cloudpaw some were now looking at the camp's entrance anxiously.

"You're sure, Cloudpaw?" Amberstar asked slowly, the white apprentice nodded her head vigourously.

"Very well. I want everyone in camp, no one leaves! Queens and apprentices stay in your den" Amberstar instructed calmly, a part of me wondered if she truly believed Cloudpaw but on the other paw Cloudpaw has never lied before.

"I'd like to give Cloudpaw some poppy seeds to calm her" Willowpool meowed.

Cloudpaw nodded slowly and together they padded off with Riverpaw trailing behind them.

The camp was in disarray, Moondown and her newly born three kits -Stripekit, Burrkit and Thistlekit- were being crammed into the nursery by her mate Blackfur even the apprentices and the young warriors looked panicked.
