Chapter 31

(Hollypaw's P.O.V)

"Blizzardchaser lead a hunting patrol and take Brindlefur, Stormbreeze and Mousepaw with you" Rabbitwhisker meowed from the Snow Rock "And Larkwind lead a border patrol with Ashpaw and Sunray" 

It has been a few days since Hiddenstar's and Whitemist's death and Robinstar's leadership ceremony. Rabbitwhisker has become deputy and was the popular choice among the clan, the foxes have left without a trace and Fireclan have left to return to their territory after Honeypaw recieved an omen about good prey and we hadn't heard a word from them since. It seems the days of peace were upon the clan and tonight will be a gathering. 

My paw is still injuried and I have taken a break from training, thankfully though Splashfoot has assured that my paw is not broken but a bit sprained and I shouldn't miss much training since my paw will heal soon. Since the days of peace have rested in the clans that means our journey will be soon and I hope my paw will be healed by then. 

Minnowpaw padded up to me, she had grown and seemed to have matured and after Hiddenstar's death she had recieved Sandtail as a mentor. Minnowpaw sat down beside me outside of the medicine cat den. 

"How you feeling?" she asked. 

"OK" I meowed "I can walk a bit more on my paw now" 

"Good" Minnowpaw meowed quickly "Our journey is soon" 

"Yes, I was just thinking about that" I told her. 

"Will you be able to come?" she asked, her amber eyes worried. 

"Of course" 

"Do you think Robinstar will let us leave?" she asked. 

"What do you mean?" I asked, cocking my head. 

"Well she isn't going to handle two apprentices leaving very well" she pointed out the truth. 

"Your right, I suppose we should talk with her... I suppose everyone should be talking to their leaders" I meowed, licking my good paw and drawing it over my ear. "Would you mind telling Pounceclaw, Echobreeze, and Shalelight to speak to their leaders tonight at the gathering?" I asked. 

"I don't know if I'm going to the gathering" Minnowpaw meowed simply. 

"I think you are; according to Ashpaw you did brilliantly in training today" I meowed, my brother liked to update me on what was happening in training while I was out, it was nice of him. 

"Really?" she asked, her amber eyes twinkling "I'll ask Sandtail!" she exclaimed. 

"OK!" I meowed with a smile. 

Minnowpaw got up and quickly padded across the clearing to where her new mentor was talking with Hazelstripe. I watched for a moment while they talked, then saw Minnowpaw's face light up with happiness; she's going. Afterwards the two padded out of camp to train. 

My eyes then focused on Puddlekit, Wildkit and Brightkit who were happily tumbling around outside of Robinstar's den. Since Robinstar became leader, she had moved the kits to her den as well. It caused a bit of a stir among a few of the older warriors but no one could question Robinstar's abilities and the kits hadn't caused any trouble, yet. 

My eyes then travelled across the clearing to Shadowkit. The little black kit was sitting outside the nursery while his siblings played around him but instead of joining them Shadowkit just watched and looked around the busy clearing. He was a bit strange... He didn't act like most kits or his siblings at all. I wonder if he'll become a medicine cat apprentice instead of a warrior apprentice.
