Chapter 13

(Hollypaw)

I woke with a start, my breaths coming out in heavy pants and thin layer of sweat drenched my underpelt, the craziness of my dream was whirling around my head, clouding it with doubt and fear. A great evil I was coming and I had the power to stop it... Me and the other chosen ones.

"I can't believe this" I muttered aloud.

"Huh?" Brindlepaw asked, making me jump, I hadn't known my friend was in the den, much less awake and grooming herself near me.

"What?" I asked trying to play it off as if I didn't hear her correctly, she cocked her head curiously.

"You said, I can't believe this" Brindlepaw explained.

"Oh, err right" I meowed anxiously, though I trust Brindlepaw something inside of me was urging me not to tell her the truth.

"So...?" Brindlepaw dabbled.

"Yeah?" I asked, more anxiousness rising inside of me, I really wanted to leave this den and clear my head from all the craziness.

"What so unbelieveable?" she asked getting slightly impation.

"Oh the snow" I meowed thinking of a quick excuse, Brindlepaw raised a brow and looked at me oddly.

"The snow? When were you outside?" Brindlepaw asked confused.

"Umm in the night, I went to the dirtplace" I smiled, I really hate lying.

"Oh OK" Brindlepaw meowed then she seemed to shrug it off and smile.

I smiled back and pushed myself to my paws and padded toward the entrance of the apprentice den, Brindlepaw shuffled in her nest behind me.

"Where ya going?" she asked before I exited the den.

I paused not really sure, all I knew was I needed to get away from this stuffy camp and clear my mind, maybe hunting, yes that sounds nice.

"Hunting" I meowed.

"Without your mentor?" she asked curiously "Do you want me to come along?"

"I'm sure Owlclaw won't mind" I lied about that, I'm pretty sure he'll freak and I paused not wanting to hurt my best friend "I'm OK, I'll only be a short time, but we'll hang out later" I smiled and pushed out of the den.

Only to be greeted by a huge dump of snow, larger then a cat, I tripped nose first into the snow. A few warriors who were walking on the very top of the snow snickered lightly at me.

"Hollypaw!" Copperpaw yowled and bounded through the snow towards me, he grabbed my scruff lightly and helped me to my paws, I was soaked, embarassed but OK.

"Thank you" I purred lightly and groomed my soaking chest fur.

"There's so much snow, hey" Copperpaw meowed with a light laugh, I nodded.

"How is this possible?" I laughed.

Copperpaw shrugged and smiled.

"Hey later you should meet me by the fresh kill pile at sunset" he mused flicking his tail happily, I blushed deeply and my heart fluttered, I nodded almost unable to form words.

"Y-yes of course" I suttered, maybe I'll ask him then what's been bothering him.

"Great see ya then" he winked and padded away to his mentor Poppylight.

I gazed after his handsome pelt for a moment, nearly drowling, I quickly shook my head and dragged my gaze from him. I looked around the clearing, thankfully Owlclaw wasn't up yet so I had time to sneak out of camp and pad away into the forest...
