Chapter 37
(Hollyheart's P.O.V)
When I woke my eyes were blurry and only destorted shapes danced before my eyes. It took a moment for them to clear and for me to make out the fuzzy shapes of Minnowpaw, Pounceclaw, Shalelight and Echobreeze towering above me. Just as my eyes began to clear sharp stabs of pain attacked my weak and tired body. With a pained yowl I remembered everything. The rats, the fighting and me collasping beneath their power.
"It's her cuts!" Shalelight meowed panickedly. "If we don't treat her or ourselves we'll die of infection; I've seen it happen"
"You're right! Does anyone know anything about herbs?" Echobreeze asked sternly.
Silence.
"If only Splashfoot had been here" Minnowpaw spat hotly.
"We gotta stop the bleeding and clean these!" Shalelight yowled as she began to examine my pelt more closely.
I was nearly too consumed in pain to notice all their terrible looking cuts and injuries but even though it was concided of me I was only thinking of myself. I must not die! I kept repeating; I must live for Iceclan and my mother and Ashclaw and Brindlefur and Froststar but my body was terribly tired and I could feel my blood seeping from my wounds.
"I know" Pounceclaw meowed "Darkgaze had once been my friend; he told me certain things"
"Quickly, tell us" Shalelight meowed.
"Burdock root" Pounceclaw meowed. "I think I know where to find some"
"I'll come with you" Echobreeze meowed and quickly they were gone.
"Use these cobwebs" Minnowpaw meowed gently as she passed a wad of cobwebs towards Shalelight.
Shalelight nodded and began to press the cobwebs on top of my wounds; I cried out in pain as she applied them and couldn't stop afterwards. Minnowpaw looked scared and Shalelight began to anxiously apologize.
My eyesight began to blur again and darkness crept up on me quickly before long my weak body was fighting sleep and I allowed it too take me away from my pain.
When I re-awoke the sky was black and the moon hung limply above my head. My body felt achy but not as tried or pained as before. I let out a ragged sigh which caught Minnowpaw's attention.
"She's awake" Minnowpaw meowed as she padded towards me "Are you OK?" she asked.
"Just achy" I replied; it took a lot of effort to talk but I managed.
Now the other's were gathering around me; each looked worried.
"Are you able to walk?" Echobreeze meowed.
"I-"
"She can't walk! She has to rest" Shalelight interrupted.
"But we must get going. The moon and stars have already rose"
"We cannot leave! She won't be able to keep up and her wounds will only reopen and never heal" Shalelight protested.
"We'll be behind schedule if we wait any longer" Echobreeze meowed firmly but not unkindly.
"I agree with Echobreeze" Pounceclaw voiced after a moment. "Hollyheart is important but not as important as my clan, sorry"
"I cannot believe you two could be so fox-hearted" Shalelight growled.
"You have a lot of nerve" Pounceclaw spat before Echobreeze could say anything "kittypet" the word flew from his mouth like poison and the blow stung Shalelight. A fire began to grow within her eyes and before she could leap onto Pounceclaw I spoke up.
