Chapter 32
(Hollypaw's P.O.V)
I couldn't help but feel excited and relieved; today was the day all my training ended, today me and Ashpaw would receive our warrior names. I had bounced back from my injury rather quickly than expected and Owlclaw decided since I had perfected most all battle moves and was able hunt through an entire forest it was time to become a warrior.
Ashpaw could barely contain himself; he spent most of the night awake and his eyes were as round as a full moon. I myself probably looked similar; I had worn a large grin all day after I found out. Brindlefur seemed happy as well to have me joining her in the warriors den; she told me that Coppertail was usually off on patrol's and Krestelwing was as snotty as ever, I couldn't help but laugh and though Coppertail still made me angry I couldn't care less about him now.
Also me, Splashfoot and Minnowpaw had spoken with Robinstar about the journey. At first she had been bewildered and confused but after a few minutes of explaining she aloud us to leave when the time came which would be soon, possibly in a day's time. And thankfully no one else around camp had heard the gossip.
But I couldn't think of the journey now too many things were rushing around my head like what would my warrior name be? When would I get my first apprentice? Will I be a good warrior? but also another thought appeared in my cloudy mind, my mother; was she proud of me and Ashpaw? Was she watching us intently from Starclan? Somewhere inside my heart I knew she was and that made me smile even bigger.
"Hollypaw! Ashpaw! Come here" I could hear Owlclaw's distinctive deep voice outside of the apprentice's den; this would be the last time he'd call my name outside of this den, this might be the last time he'll call me Hollypaw.
I looked at Ashpaw, smiled then exited the den to meet Owlclaw and Larkwind.
Owlclaw motioned with his head for me to join him as he skirted the clearing to find somewhere more private to sit. I sat and looked directly into his eyes; it seemed he was no longer the big, scary warrior I thought he was on my first day of training. Thinking back to that day in Leaf-Bare I couldn't help but feel shocked; Owlclaw had gone from being a cranky, mean mentor too one of my most trusted... friends?
"You've come a long way, Hollypaw" Owclaw began "You were once timid and shy, scared of me and just about everything in the forest"
I blushed with embarrassment.
"And now look at you; a fit, young, strong warrior" he continued, a gleam of pride was in his bue eyes but also a small spark of sadness "Your mother would be proud"
"Thank you, Owlclaw!" I purred before gently rubbing my cheek against his "Thank you for everything, I could have never done it without you"
"Of course you couldn't" he snapped but the gleam in his eyes was anything but gently and teasing.
"All cats who are old enough to catch their own prey join here beneath the Snow Rock for a clan meeting" Robinstar's voice broke through the usual chatter around camp.
The clan gathered quickly and Larkwind and Ashpaw joined us, it seemed to me they were both wearing the same smile.
"It seems it's your time" Larkwind grinned.
I looked at Ashpaw and he mirrored my same ready-to-go expression. We joined the clan, sitting at the very front with our mentors behind us and Robinstar looking down on us; this was it!
"Owlclaw are you statisfied with Hollypaw's training and do you think she is prepared to become a full warrior?" Robinstar asked.
"I believe she will make an excellent warrior" Owlclaw replied, Robinstar smiled.
