Chapter 34

 Chapter 34 

(Splashfoot's P.O.V) 

I sat up most of the night; watching the red moon slowly fade back as the sun slowly crept up and slowly after that a small few warriors creeping out of the den with Rabbitwhisker for dawn patrols. Another thing I enjoyed about being a medicine cat; I decided when I woke up and went to bed not Rabbitwhisker or Robinstar. 

I watched Rabbitwhisker climb onto the Snow Rock and Coppertail, Sunray and Krestelwing begin to mill around camp idly. I wondered how long it would take until someone noticed Hollyheart and Minnowpaw were missing. Would Robinstar explain their disappearance? 

"You three can go on the dawn patrol to Fireclan's border when you're finished eating" Rabbitwhisker meowed finally when he realized no one else was waking. 

Coppertail being the ever-so-vaillant new young warrior replied "Of course" 

It was after dawn when Coppertail, Krestelwing and Sunray were gone when some cat's began to notice. 

"Minnowpaw's missing!" Sandtail's startled scream shook the clearing as she stormed out of the apprentice den; Littlepaw and Mousepaw trailing after her with fear in their eyes. 

"So is Hollyheart!" Stormbreeze's frightened mew sounded from near the warrior's den. "Her scent hasn't been here since last night!" 

"If your daughter took my Minnowpaw, I'll hurt her!" Sunray's angry growl sounded. It seems their patrol has returned. 

"Sunray!" Sandtail hissed "You know Hollyheart has nothing but love for Minnowpaw" 

"My daughter would never!" Stormbreeze meowed in outrage. 

The clearing was alive with the sounds of hisses and startled, anxious chatter. 

"Calm this madness" Robinstar's voice demanded from the Snow Rock. 

Everycat in the clearing instantly silenced and looked up at her. 

"Your daughters have not been harmed" Robinstar meowed. 

"Well where are they?" Sunray growled. 

"They both have been chosen to fullfil a prophecy" 

The clearing errupted into a fit of gasps and whispers. 

"They both left last night to begin their journey and all we can do is pray for them and wish them best of luck on their travels" Robinstar finished with a flick of her tail before leaping down and returning to her den. 

Well that's settled; I thought preparing to return to my den to sleep. 

"Splashfoot" an angry voice interrupted my plans; I turned to see, Sandtail? 

"Yes?" I meowed, a blush traveled underneath my pelt and I growled inwardly at it. 

"You knew" Sandtail growled. 

"About?" 

"About the journey! About the prophecy! Why didn't you tell me?" her voice was forelorn. 

I sighed; "Well we haven't been the closet, not for a while at least" 

Sandtail looked away then back at me. 

"Why don't we change that" she meowed. 

My heart began to hammer in my chest; could this be happening? I gasped at myself, I am a medicine cat! I can't hope for love with Sandtail.
