Chapter 10
-Hollypaw's P.O.V-
I watched cautiously as Ashpaw lunged toward Copperpaw, Copperpaw saw the attack and dodged but surprisingly Ashpaw was smart enough to judge that Copperpaw would duck so he changed directions and managed to bowled over Copperpaw into the snow. They both straightened and began pacing around each other, then Copperpaw struck out his front paw super quick causing Ashpaw to lose balance and tumble.
Copperpaw took this time to strike a few harmless yet hard blows to Ashpaw's face and muzzle leaving him stunned, I breathed in and wouldn't let the air go, though I knew that Copperpaw wouldn't hurt my younger brother it was still hard to watch. Before Copperpaw could pound anymore blows to Ashpaw's head, Ashpaw sprang forward and grabbed Copperpaw's belly pinning him over and biting harmlessly to his belly fur.
But Copperpaw was quick and only left his belly fur open briefly, Copperpaw jumped into the air and landed on the ground beside Ashpaw. Ashpaw looked slightly confused on what Copperpaw was planning next and didn't have the time to react, Copperpaw sped around Ashpaw, faster and faster, all that could be seen was a blur of redish fur and Ashpaw looked confused.
Suddenly, bam, a paw smacked Ashpaw's face then disappeared back into the tornado that had once been Copperpaw, then bam another and then another. Ashpaw was overwhelmed with blow after blow and when he tried to strike out at Copperpaw it only missed, I could see the irriation in his eyes as he sighed.
Copperpaw stopped running and before Ashpaw knew it he was muzzle down in the snow, a panting Copperpaw standing on top of him. Poppylight strolled into the clearing and Copperpaw stepped off of Ashpaw.
"And it seems Copperpaw has won!" Poppylight yowled happily for her apprentice "But good fight Ashpaw" she complimented my brother, who ducked his head.
"Good job!" Copperpaw meowed to Ashpaw
"Yeah you too" Ashpaw smiled happily then Larkwind padded toward him with a smile.
"Congrats you did brilliantly, tomorrow we'll hunt then I'll teach you that move and how to best defend against it" Larkwind promised her apprentice.
"Really? Awesome" Ashpaw squeaked and padded toward me and Brindlepaw.
"Good job" I smiled happily.
"Yeah" Brindlepaw agreed.
"Thanks, good luck sis" Ashpaw meowed with a smile, I gulped.
I really don't want to fight especially after watching the other apprentices, I am diffinatly not that good! Owlclaw padded forward and I could feel my stomach turning and clenching.
"The next match will be between Hollypaw and Brindlepaw" Owlclaw annouced, I looked over at my best friend she gave me a grin.
"Just because were best friends doesn't mean I'm going easy on you" Brindlepaw teased with a smile.
"Oh your on" I challenged with the same smile, though on the inside I was not at all ready or willing to fight her.
We both padded into the clearing, standing a good distance away from each other so the fight could begin fairly, I crouched low to the ground and stood in a protective stance Owlclaw had taught me. Whitemist padded into the center of the clearing, her green eyes flickered between us then she yowled for it to begin.
Brindlepaw sprang forward into the air but I run forward and slipped under her whilst she was still airborn, quickly I sprang upwards and pulled Brindlepaw down with a light thud. I stopped for a slight second, how had I known to do that? I wasn't even taught that move!
