Okay last prologue... enjoyy

Axcel's taken it upon himself to book me an ultrasound.

When I complained about it, he just said that it was long overdue.

'Listen Alexis, it's long overdue.' He says as he pushes me through the hallways of the hospital. 'It's your child, you can't not want to see your child.' He continues.

'Well Seb can't see his child, so I don't see why I should be able to.' I mumble.

'Okay, but he'd be upset if he knew you weren't watching his beloved unborn fetus grow.'

'Did you just call my child a fetus?'

'Uh yeah.' He says as he leads me into a room.

I jump up onto the chair next to the machine and lie down.

'I feel like you just learnt that word.' I mutter

A lady walks in with a big smile and sits beside me.

She looks down at her clipboard and then back at me.

'Here for our seven month scan I see.'

'Yep.' I reply.

'And it seems you haven't been here for a while, so this will be a good check up.'

'Yep.'

She gives me a smile. 'No need to be nervous, love. Your baby's going to be perfect.'

I don't bother to tell her that I'm not nervous, instead I glare at Axcel, who is doing everything he can to avoid my gaze.

The lady rubs gel on my bump and then brings the receiver to it.

She smiles at the screen and then turns it so I can see.

'She's beautiful.' She says quietly to me.

I glance at the screen and then at her.

'It's a girl?' I ask.

The lady looks at me confused. 'I-'

'It's a girl.' I repeat quietly.

'I thought that you knew, I'm so sorry.' She says.

'No it's fine, I-' I say. My voice breaks midway through my sentence and I can feel the tears start to fall.

She passes me a box of tissues. 'I hope those are happy tears.'

I wipe them away. 'Yeah...they are.'

'It's a girl.' I say to Alice as I show her the scans from across the counter.

She gasps loudly. 'Yay. A mini you. Imagine that.'

I smile. 'Seb wanted a girl.'

She takes my hands in hers. 'Maybe this is the universe saying that Sebastian has immaculate fortune telling skills.'

'Had. He had immaculate fortune telling skills.'

She gives me a look before carrying on. 'Or maybe, the baby is a way for the universe to say that you'll have a piece of Sebastian with you all the time.'

'She was made out of his sperm, so I would sure hope so.'

'Stop being so cynical Lexi.'

I shrug. 'I'm just saying.'

I get up from my seat and walk towards my room.

'Alexis, you can't spend the rest of your life sleeping.' Alice says.

I spin around to face her and open my mouth to reply when there's a knock at my front door.

I sigh and pull it open.

'Why are you back here?' I say to Axcel, who is rocking back and forth on his heels with his hands in his pockets.

'Um, I'm not here to see you this time.' He says.

'Who else would you be here to see?' I ask.

'Me. He's here to see me.' Alice says from beside me.

She pushes past me and stands next to Axcel.

I watch both of them shift uncomfortably as they wait for my reaction.

This is probably the worst coupling anyone could come up with. They're both just so... them.

'This is ridiculous.' I say as I push the door shut.

I groan and walk to my bedroom.

This has to be as bad as life gets.
