I put Isla to bed, and then stand outside the backdoor, and look up to see if I can spot any cameras.
'Why are you outside, it's a danger hazard.' Axcel says from the back door.
I look at him.
When did he get here?
I roll my eyes, and step back for a better view of the back door. 'Axcel, you're a bad bodyguard, stop acting like a good one.' I say.
He gasps. 'That was actually really offensive.'
I hear rustling, and I look down to see Axcel eating out of a share pack of oreos.
I give him a look.
'Really, seriously. It's like ten o'clock.' I say.
'Alexis, you hater. There is never a bad time to eat oreos.'
I sigh. 'How did you get in my house anyway?'
'Technically, it's my house, because it should be passed down by blood-'
'Who's name is on the deeds again?' I ask him.
He stares at me, takes another oreo out the pack and bites into it.
'Oh yeah, me.' I continue.
'Alexis, you're literally a comedian.' He says in a monotone voice. 'My belly hurts from how much I laugh at the stuff that leaves your mouth.'
'Wasn't a joke Axcel, my name is on the deeds.' I say. 'Don't be jealous.' I add with a smile.
'Anyway,' He says, shoving the rest of his oreo in his mouth. 'I'm bored.'
'What do you want me to do about that?' I ask.
'Well,' He starts, taking a seat at my breakfast bar. 'It's Alice's birthday soon, I was thinking we could plan something.'
I narrow my eyes. 'Alice's birthday is in like two months, that's not soon.'
'It's soon enough.'
I sigh. 'Axcel, first off, Alice says her third eye is open, and you might be inclined to not believe her, but she knows things, like she sees them. I don't know, it's creepy, and you definitely can't hide anything from her. Secondly, you did not come all the way to my house to ask me to plan Alice a surprise party. You could've planned it yourself, and then texted me about it. You didn't have to come here.'
'I don't believe in the third eye, if you can't see it, it's not real.' He says with a shrug. 'Plus, you're right, I'm not here for that. I would just plan it myself, you have no taste.'
I have taste.
'Um-'
'I was actually here to do some snooping.' He says, interrupting me. 'Apparently, you've been getting unidentified packages.'
