A note slides under my office door, so I pick it up, open the door and look around for who left it there.
The entire hallway's empty, even Maya's not at her desk.
Weird.
I unfold it and read the message written on it.
It's an address for a place I've never heard of.
The handwriting is so close to being illegible it's ridiculous, which tells me it was probably written by the one and only man child I know, Diego.
I don't know why he thinks I'm going to follow him to a place I've never heard of, but he's clearly delusional.
I sit back at my desk, just as Maya enters the room.
'I got the coffee you asked for.' She says, placing it on my desk.
Oh yeah, I sent her to get me a coffee.
'Thank you.' I say.
She nods, and leaves, shutting the door softly behind her.
I pick up the cup, and bring it to my lips, just as something on the side catches my eye.
On the side of the cup is written 'I have something you might want.', in the same atrocious handwriting.
How does he manage to be such a pain at all times of the day?
I push my chair back.
How can I refuse an offer like that?

'Diego, your handwriting is terrible.' I say.
I'm almost 100% sure, I'm in the centre of a farm.
I'm stood outside of a barn that looks as if one gust of wind blew, it would topple right over.
Diego is nowhere in sight, which is not a good sign.
'That's rude.' He replies, from behind me.
I spin around, to see him stood with his stupid crossbow pointed right at my face.
'Move that out of my face Peter Pan.' I say.
He lowers it. 'Again Alexis, when did Peter Pan have a crossbow?'
I give him a look. 'Why am I here?'
'Oh,' He says. 'I thought you might want this.'
He hands me his crossbow, and I stare at him.
'What don't you want to use it?' He asks.
'Of course I want to use it. I just don't know how.'
He shrugs. 'I'll teach you.'
'Is it mine, do I get it forever?' I ask
He shakes his head. 'No.'
'But you have like ten at your house.'
'Yeah, and I'd like to keep it that way.'
I roll my eyes. 'So who's my test subject?' I lift it, so it's level with his chest. 'You?'
He reaches out and pushes it down. 'No.' He says. 'I have test people for you.'
'Test people?'
He pushes the barn door open, and waits for me to enter.
'Currently, I'm on a sixth month killing diet, but people are impatient, and I like money, so I've agreed to some jobs that I can't currently complete. You get to do them for me.'
'Didn't you kill those guards like three days ago?' I say, stepping into the barn.
'That was a rest day.' He says quickly.
The door shuts, as Diego steps in after me.
The only light in the room is swinging above a rack, that's got three humans attached to it.
They've all passed out, and one of them has blood dripping from their nose.
'So you want me to do your job for you?' I ask.
He nods. 'Yeah.'
'Are you going to pay me?'
'Alexis, I'm paying you by letting you use my crossbow.'
I glare at him.
'Do you not want to use it then?' He asks, reaching out his hand to take it from me.
'No.' I say holding it against my chest. 'I do want to use it.' I turn towards the human rack and point the crossbow towards the first one. 'Is this not a bit unethical?'
'I think it's best if you don't think about ethics love.' He says, sliding his arms over mine.
He moves my aim, so I'm more in line with the man who seems to be stirring from his slumber.
He slides an arrow into the crossbow.
'Trigger.' He says.
I place my finger on the trigger.
'Shoot.' He whispers.
I do, and it hits the man square in the chest.
If he wasn't groaning at regular intervals, I would've assumed he was already dead.
I go to lower the crossbow, but Diego stops me.
'Again.' He says, sliding another arrow in.
'Again?'
'Again.' He says.
I shoot again, and then lower the crossbow.
'It's really just a glorified gun, isn't it?' I ask, turning around.
He takes it from me and inspects it like I somehow managed to sabotage it in the two seconds he let me hold it.
'It's not a glorified gun Alexis, they're different things.'
'How?' I ask.
'One shoots arrows and the other one shoots bullets.' He says, stating the obvious.
'Obviously.' I say.
'Why'd you ask, if you already know?' He asks, turning and pointing the crossbow at the next person on the rack.
I have to admit, he looks slightly handsome with that crossbow.
He finishes shooting the remaining people, before turning to me.
I cross my arms. 'I thought you were on a killing diet.'
He shrugs. 'Break day.'
I roll my eyes.
He rakes his eyes down my body and steps forward.
'You're better off with me you know.' He says quietly.
He brushes past me, and I spin around in confusion.
'In comparison to who?' I call out after him.
He turns at the entrance, to face me. 'Sebastian.' He says, before walking out.
