Alice is the worst influence.

Responsible mothers don't get drunk.

Responsible mothers stay home and look after their children.

I am obviously not a responsible mother, because I'm drunk, sat in my car, parked in front of Diego's house.

The only good thing is that I'm not as drunk as I was when I got arrested.

I'm never getting that drunk again, but I am, it seems, drunk enough to commit arson.

I grab the vodka bottle that I dropped in the foot well and I root around in my glove compartment for my lighter and a random piece of fabric.

When I find both, I look back at Diego's house. A light flickers on in one of the rooms and he appears, with his back to the window.

A woman comes up behind him and they kiss before disappearing.

I don't know how to describe the feeling that just surfaced when I saw that but I do not like it.

I unlock my car door and step out.

I take a swig of the vodka before shoving the cloth inside it and lighting it.

I watch as the fire takes hold and begins to make its way closer to my hand.

I walk up to his house and throw the bottle through an open window.

Why's he got his window open?

He's literally asking to be blown up.

The fire begins to take hold of the things inside the house, so I walk back to my car.

I really need to lie down.

I cross my arms across my chest and lean against my car, watching the fire spread through the house.

There's no way he's getting out of that alive.

That girl definitely isn't either.

A crowd begins to gather behind me and I turn to look around.

I shouldn't really stay here too long.

I notice someone walking in my direction, as they get closer I begin to realise that they look awfully familiar.

It's a man, and he's shirtless, showing off his tanned skin and muscles.

I'm starting to feel a bit sick... drinking that vodka obviously was not a good idea.

'Alexis.' Diego says from next to me.

Why is he not dead?

I ignore him, because normally people just leave me alone when I do.

'Alexis, I know you can hear me.' He says.

I roll my eyes and groan. 'What?'

Maybe I'm hallucinating him.

'Why did you burn down my neighbours house?'

I squeeze my eyes shut.

This is why I don't do things drunk.

I really should've learnt my lesson by now.

I open my eyes, and Diego's is standing directly in front me.

'That's not your house?' I ask, my words slightly slurring.

He shakes his head. 'No.' He smirks. 'I guess this is yet another failed attempt on my life.'

I open my mouth to reply, but I suddenly feel the overwhelming need to be sick.

I double over and spew all over Diego's shoes.

I kneel down on the floor.

Why does this keep happening to me?

I groan and Diego kneels down to join me on the ground.

'Are you okay?' He asks.

I glare at him. 'Do I look okay?'

He raises his eyebrows.

I roll my eyes and sigh. 'Sorry about your shoes.' I mutter.

'It's okay.' He says as he places a finger under my chin and tilts my head up towards him.

His eyes search my face, before he takes my hand and pulls me up.

'No, I'm going to be sick again.' I moan.

'Yeah, I know. You can be sick in my toilet.'

He leads me towards his house and then drags me to the bathroom.

I kneel over the toilet and I'm sick the moment I'm close enough to the bowl.

I feel Diego hold my hair out of my face, his thumb tracing circle on the nape of my neck.

It feels oddly comforting that he's right next to me.

When I'm finished, vomiting my guts out, he drops my hair, flushes the toilet and walks out the bathroom.

I sit, with my back against the bath and pull my knees up to my chest.

He comes back in, hands me a mug and then sits next to me.

'What is it?' I ask quietly.

'Just drink it.' He says, not quite meeting my eye.

He twists a ring on his index finger and chews at his lip.

I wonder what he's thinking about.
