I'm sat in the penthouse, when the elevator doors ding and Axcel steps out.

I haven't seen him in a week, and I've been hoping I could avoid him for longer.

Not because I'm ashamed I slapped him or pissed off about what he said about me and Diego.

I just don't want to see him.

But I guess I can't really avoid someone who's supposed to be stuck to my side for eternity.

He's stood frozen at the elevator doors like he's seen a ghost.

He gulps. 'Alexis.'

Nope, not today.

I pick up my stuff with lightning speed and walk towards the elevator.

'No Alexis, wait.' He says trying to stop me.

I barge past him, open the elevator, step in and close the doors.

He doesn't follow me.

Until he decides that me not talking to him is somewhat like a death sentence.

He storms into my office.

'Alexis, let me talk to you.'

I flick through a file on my desk. 'Talk then.'

'I was out of line the other day. I shouldn't have said what I did.'

'But you did say it.' I say, without looking up.

'I- I know-'

'So you've been thinking about it for a while.'

'No-'

'Otherwise you wouldn't have said it.'

'Alexis, I'm sorry.'

'Great.'

'No seriously, I am.'

'Yeah, and that's great.'

He sighs. 'Alexis look at me.'

I ignore him.

'Look at me.' He says more forcefully this time.

I look at him. 'Fix your tone Axcel. I don't give two fucks if you're sorry. You've already assumed the worst about everything I do, just own it and piss off.'

'Alexis.' He says, sounding slightly defeated.

'Axcel, piss off. I have things to do.' I say grabbing the file I was looking through and leaving.

I sit at the kitchen island in the centre of the room, flanked by Axcel's minions, watching the blubbering man in front of me beg for his life.

'Stop crying.' I say.

He wipes his face. 'I'm not ma'am.'

I narrow my eyes. 'So I was just imagining the tears falling from your eyes.'

He gulps.

I roll my eyes. 'So which option are you going with? Empty your bank account, take this briefcase to England or die. Which one?'

'Ma'am, please. I can't do any of those.'

'You can't-'

I'm interrupted by the sound of glass shattering.

I turn to face the window, and watch at Diego climbs through with a fucking cross bow in his hand.

'What are you doing here?' I ask him.

He stares at me, brushes himself off and then looks back at me. 'I could ask you the same thing.'

'No you couldn't. What's with the crossbow?

'What do you think Alexis, I'm here to kill him.' He says pointing to the crying man.

'Mmh no, not today.'

'You can't tell me when to kill him.'

'Um yes I can. Come back next week.'

'Not happening Alexis.' He says.

'Yes it is.' I turn to face one of Axcel's minions. 'Get him out of here.' I say.

The minion looks at Diego and then looks back at me hesitantly.

I turn to look at Diego, who's got his crossbow pointed at the minion.

'God you lot are useless.' I mutter. I stand up and walk towards him.

He narrows his eyes as I reach out and lower the crossbow.

'I still don't understand why you have a stupid crossbow.'

He looks me up and down, before shrugging. 'I'm being original.'

'No you're being-'

A loud bang sounds from the front of the house and I spin around to see that the man has disappeared.

Diego and I curse under our breaths at the same time.

'This is your fault.' He says to me, before brushing past me and running out the house.

I turn to face Axcel's minions, who are stood rooted on the spot.

I glare at them. 'Why are you just standing there, go and get that man, and bring him back alive.'

I take my seat at the kitchen island again, and I'm by myself for all of five minutes before I feel someone staring at me.

I know it's Diego.

'If you want something, Diego, all you have to do is ask.'

He doesn't answer me, and I don't turn around.

I hear him place something on the floor.

Probably his stupid crossbow.

'Can I have you?'

My breath hitches slightly.

If I turn around, I'll say yes.

I don't turn around, I just shake my head.

'No.' I say.

He leaves a beat. 'Why?'

'I don't have any love left to give.' I say quietly.

He scoffs. 'I don't want your love Alexis. I just want to fuck you.'

I can feel my heart hammering against my chest.

I spin around, but he's already gone.
