chapter 72

2 weeks later:
My eyes shoot open as I hear the babies crying. I groan. I go to get up. "I've got it baby" Derek walks into our bedroom.

"Hey" I sit up slowly. He smiles. "Where were you?" I ask. "I was looking after my other babies I have with my other girlfriends" he says as he gently picks up mia. I giggle.

He passes me mia. I hold her, gently rubbing her back with my hand to Soothe her. Derek sits next to me, holding lucas.

"I went to the store" he reaches into his pocket. He hands me some chocolate. "Oh my god I love you" I say. He chuckles softly.

I bend my knees slightly, laying mia on my legs, still holding her head in my hand as I eat my chocolate. Derek does the same as he sits next to me so we can watch them both.

"I love them so much" he says as lucas squeezes his finger in his hand. I smile. "I love you so much" I grin at him. He grins. "You tired?" He asks. "Exhausted" I sigh. He leans in. I smile, kissing him softly.

"Why don't you let me take the babies today? And you can sleep" he says. "Really?" I ask. "Of course" he says. "Where are you taking them?" I ask. "I was thinking I could tie them to the back of my motorbike and-" he says. I hit his arm. He laughs.

"I'm gonna take them to see their grandparents" he says. "In the car?" I ask. "Nooo" he says sarcastically. I roll my eyes. I take a second to think.

"Okay" I say. "Yeah?" He asks. I nod. "Are you sure you're okay with-" I say. "You haven't slept in two weeks mer" he says. "Thankyou derek" I sigh. He smiles.

He gets them dressed after changing their diapers. He packs the bag and gets the pram. I stand up with mia. We put them in the pram. I stroke their cheeks gently.

"Please drive carefully" I say. "You have nothing to worry about" he says. "How long will you be gone?" I ask. "Long enough for you to sleep and to get some studying in" he says. I smile brightly.

I hug him tight. He smiles, wrapping his arms around me. He pulls away slowly. He puts his hands on my cheeks, kissing me softly. "Get some sleep" he says.

"Did you pack the breastmilk?" I ask. He doesn't answer. "Derek" I chuckle. He shrugs. "What did you pack?" I grab the bag, looking through it. "What more do I need?" He asks.

"Grab some extra clothes for them incase they need them, their blankets and the milk" I say. He grabs all the stuff. I pack it.

"And you're ready" I hand him the bag. "What would I do without you?" He says. "Die" I grin. He chuckles. I giggle. "Okay bye, I love you so much babies" I say, bending down to their level.

I stand back up straight and kiss derek. "I love you so much too" I grin. "I love you too.. go to sleep" he says. I smile, walking into our room. I get in bed.

Me and derek agreed not to decorate my room into the nursery yet, as the babies are staying in his- our room with us. We're gonna do it soon when they're a little older but for now we don't even really have the money for it.

I snuggle into my pillows in bed and pull the blankets over me. I close my eyes and soon fall peacefully asleep for the first time in a while.

Derek's pov:
I knock on the door. My mom and Ellis rush to the door, opening it. "Hi babies" "How's my little grand babies doing?" They both bend down to see them.

"Wow.. hi mom, ellis" I say. They chuckle. "Hi derek" they say. We go inside. I sit on the couch as they look at the babies. I rest my head back on the couch.

"Where's meredith?" Ellis asks. "I took the babies for the day so she can get some sleep" I say. They smile.

"Well we are free to babysit anytime if you and meredith need time to yourselves" my mom says in a baby voice as she plays gently with mia. "Thanks" I smile.

Lucas starts crying. Ellis gasps softly. "What's wrong sweetheart?" She whispers. "Theres milk in the bag" I say as I take the milk. "Here" Ellis takes it.

"Thanks, heat It-" I say. "I know how to heat breastmilk derek" she chuckles softly. I chuckle, nodding. She heats it in the kitchen before walking back in. She gently picks him up and feeds him.

My phone rings. "Its mer" I say as I stand up. I walk into the hallway. "Hey" I answer the phone. "Hi.. how are you? How are the babies?" She asks. "We're good.. their grandmas are taking very good care of them" I chuckle. "Good" she says.

"You get some sleep?" I ask. "I had a very good nap" she says. I smile. "What you doing now?" I ask.

"Studying.. and pumping.. and watching TV.. and texting cristina" she says. "You're supposed to be getting rest" I chuckle. She giggles.

"Mm I am very relaxed.. but I do miss my babies" she says. "Want us to come back?" I ask. "No" she says. I laugh.

"In a little bit.. I'm so behind on my studying" she says. "Whatever you need baby" I say. "Thankyou" she says. "Of course mer.. stop thanking me" I say.

"I should get back to studying.." she says. "You should" I say. "Bye" she says. "Bye" I chuckle softly, hanging up.

We hang out at my mom's for a little while before going back home. I walk into the apartment. Meredith rushes over. I chuckle softly. "Hi" she kisses their heads softly. I smile.

"You showered" I say. She nods. "Thank god.. you stunk" I say. She giggles, sticking her middle finger up at me. I grin.

"I missed you so so much my babies" she coos. "Did you miss me?" I grin. She stands up, walking over to me. "Oh I missed you the most" she coos jokingly. I chuckle. She giggles. She kisses me.

I put my hands on her waist. "How do you feel?" I ask. "I'm good.. I feel rested and I caught up on some studying" she smiles.

"Good.. you seemed a bit stressed yesterday" I say. "Just tired" she shrugs. I nod. "Plus I needed a derek hug" she grins. I chuckle softly. I wrap my arms around her. She smiles, cuddling Into me.

We stay here for a while before pulling away slowly. She kisses me a couple of times. "Hey, you wanna have a movie night tonight?" I stroke her hair back gently.

"With mia and lucas?" She asks. "I don't think they'll be interested" I say, making her giggle. "The babies will be asleep next to us as we watch it" I say. She nods.

Meredith's pov:
I walk over to the babies. So does derek. I pick up mia as he picks up lucas. We walk into our room.

We put the babies in their cot. Derek picks it up carefully, carrying it into the living room. Derek turns on the tv and we sit on the couch. I smile as he pulls me onto his lap.

I pull the blanket over us. I cuddle into him and he wraps his arms around me as the movie starts.

Were 10 minutes into the movie. "Haven't we already watched this?" I ask. He doesn't answer. "Der?" I ask. I pull away, looking at him. He's asleep. I smile. He did have a long day today taking care of the babies.

I rest my head on his shoulder, watching the movie. Mia starts crying. I carefully move out of Derek's arms, standing up. "Shh baby.. don't wake up daddy" I gently pick her up.

I very gently bounce her up and down in my arms. "Shh it's okay" I whisper. She blinks a few times slowly before closing her eyes. I smile, waiting for her to fall asleep before putting her back in the cot.

I walk over to derek. "Der? Baby? Derek" I whisper. He doesn't wake up. I smile as I realise he's deep asleep.

I put my hands on his shoulders, gently laying him down onto the couch. I pick up his legs, putting them on the couch. I go into our room. I pull the duvet off of the bed.

I walk back into the living room. I lay next to him on the couch. He unconsciously wraps his arm around me. I cuddle into him, pulling the duvet over us both. It's not long before I fall asleep aswell.
