epilogue

I sigh as I see derek at the nurses station. I walk over to him. I wrap my arms around him. He sighs, pulling me into his embrace.

"How's your day going?" He asks. "Good.. but I'm exhausted.. and they made me take off my ring" I say. We pull away.

He takes my ring from my pocket. "Wait" he says, undoing my neckelace. He slips it onto the neckelace and reties it.

I smile. "There" he says. "Thankyou" I sigh. He kisses me softly. "shepherd's what the hell do you think you're doing?" Bailey walks over. "Um" I say.

"This is your first day back after maternity leave.. you really think you should be slacking?" She asks. "No, I- I finished my charts.. and Derek's done too" I say. "Okay, you're both with me now" she says. We nod.

We hear someone calling us. We ignore them, looking at bailey. "Those better not be damn kids" she says. "They're not kids" I lie.

"Mommy!" Mia hugs me. "It isn't mine" I say. She chuckles. I relax a little. "Talk to your children.. you have half an hour, understand?" She says. We nod. She walks away.

"Hi sweetie" I hug her. The twins are now both five. "Hi baby" Derek carefully picks up Maisey, our newest addition to the family.

He kisses her nose softly. She's one month old now. "Thankyou for bringing them mom" I say to my mom who was pushing the stroller. "Of course" she smiles.

"I needed to see my babies" I hug mia and lucas. I pull away slowly. "Mommy your boss is there" lucas says. I look behind me.

"I need to see the baby" Bailey says. I giggle. Derek let's her hold her. "How was school today monkey?" I brush his hair out of his face. "Good.. can max sleepover tonight?" He asks. "And Katie!" Mia says.

I look at derek. He nods. "Yeah of course" I say. They both smile. "How about you? School?" I ask mia. "Good.. I got an award for being good" she says. "Well done sweetheart" I smile.

I kiss both of their heads before standing up. Bailey passes me the baby. "Hi beautiful" I whisper.

"Come with me" I say to derek. "Okay" he says. "Mom we'll just be a sec" I say. She nods. We walk to the closest on-call room.

I sit on the bed. He carefully helps me pull down my scrub top and move my bra out of the way. She latches on.

He puts his hand on my cheek. I smile, looking into his eyes. He kisses me softly. He wraps his arm around my back, resting his head on my shoulder.

"Don't fall asleep sweetheart" I run my fingers through his hair. He sighs, kissing my cheek.

The baby squeezes my boob as she sucks harder on my nipple. I chuckle softly. "I miss the kids" I say. "Me too" he says. "Work is hard" I sigh. "I know" he sighs. "But I love it.. I love being an intern" I smile. "Me too" he says.

We look into eachothers eyes. I smile. The baby pulls away. He lifts my bra and scrub top back up for me. I smile.

He kisses the babies head. "She looks so much like you" he says. "Oh, definitely your eyes" I whisper. He smiles. I look into his eyes. He kisses me deeply.
