Chapter 20: Selfish

5 months have passed since that event happened, Wala na talaga akong balita kay Claire. Well, I don't care naman.

I'm always busy sa company, I don't have time para ipa investigate kung nasaan siya. My brothers, especially my parents ay sobrang galit saakin dahil sa ginawa ko.

Anyways, I'm currently signing some papers and reviewing my company's sales here in my office dito lang sa house namin, I'm lazy kasi to go sa office ngayon that's why gusto ko dito lang sa bahay.

While working, I heard the voice of Simon calling my name.

"Why?" I asked him as he entered my office

"May balita ka ba about Claire?" he asked

"What? Wala bakit? Gusto mo ba siya?" I asked sarcastically

"No, but...may asawa na ba siya or boyfriend?" he asked, again.

I sighed "Oh common, why don't you find her and ask her. Hindi yung ako pa yung tinatanong mo"

"I'm sorry, but who's the father of Claire's baby?" he curiously asked

Baby?

"Huh? What baby?" I asked

"Hindi mo alam? She's pregnant. Someone sent me a picture of Claire, stolen but I'm very sure si Claire yun" he replied

"Can I see the picture?" I asked and he nodded, he took out his phone from his pocket and then showed me the picture

It's Claire, wearing a dress and holding her big tummy. She's pregnant?

"Who sent it to you?" I asked

"My friend, pinakita ko na yan kay mom. She said na she's the one nalang daw na magsasabi sayo. I thought she already told you" he shrugged his shoulders

"Do you have any idea who's the father of her baby? Where is she now? Saan kuha yang picture na yan?" sunod-sunod kong tanong

"My friend lives in Subic, so I guess? And mom also told me na pupunta siya ngayon sa Subic" aniya

"Alam ni mom kung nasaan siya?" I asked

"Yes, pina investigate pa niya si Claire" he said and I immediately get my car keys

"Hey!" Simon called me pero hindi ko siya nilingon

I started the car's engine and immediately drive going to Subic.

I need to know who's the father of Claire's baby. Malakas ang kutob ko na ako ang ama pero kailangan kong makasigurado.

Claire and I are not in good terms, but I have the rights kung totoo man na anak ko ang ipinagbubuntis niya.

While driving, I decided to call mom but suddenly nahulog yung phone ko sa gilid ng car seat. I tried to reach for it pero huli na dahil naibangga ko ang sasakyan sa poste.

Nagising ako sa isang kwarto at bumungad saakin ang aking nanay na umiiyak at ang aking tatay at mga kapatid na inaantay siguro ako magising.

"Finally, you're awake!" mom said as she caressed my forehead

"M-mom, where's C-claire? I need to t-talk to her" I asked

"Mag rest ka muna, may gusto ka ba? Anong masakit?" pag iiba niya sa usapan

"I know alam m-mo kung nasaan si Claire. Alam ko na din na she's pregnant, so tell me mom where is she?" I impatiently asked

"Anak magpahinga ka muna" Dad suggested

"Dad, I'm fine. Minor injury lang naman 'to" asik ko

"Mom, please. Tell me kung nasaan si Claire. And...alam mo ba kung sino ang father nung ipinagbubuntis ni Claire?" pangungulit ko

"I- I don't kn-

I cutted her off " Mom! Please don't lie!" I shouted

"Mom please" I cried "A-am I the father?" I asked

"N-no"

"I know you're lying!" I shouted

"Y-yes you a-are" she answered

"Then bakit hindi niyo sinabi saakin? That's my child!" singhal ko habang umiiyak

"Because they don't deserve you! After what you did do you think idadamay pa ni Claire ang anak niyo? She's a mother, alam niya kung ano ang makabubuti para sa anak niya...sa anak niyo" mom said

"She's selfish!" asik ko

"No, she's not! You are the one! Ikaw ang naging selfish! Dinamay mo siya at pinahirapan sa mga bagay na hindi naman niya kasalanan " sagot niya

"Mom...." I sobbed

"Be selfless, anak. If you want to see Claire, I'll bring you to her. Just promise me na you won't do anything bad to her. You need to realize that you are wrong, and wag ka din umasa na tatanggapin ka niya agad dahil sobra ang ginawa mo, sinaktan mo siya while she's pregnant" mom said and leave the room

"Dad, I need to see Claire. I need to talk to her...I think I need to say sorry to her" I said while crying, dad approached me for a hug

"Gagawa kami ng paraan, just make sure na magbabago ka na kasi ako mismo ang magpapakulong sayo kung may gagawin ka nanamang kalokohan" aniya

I stayed at the hospital for 3 days, may mga sugat pa din ako pero unti-unti na silang gumagaling.

Hanggang ngayon wala parin akong idea kung nasaan sila Claire. The only thing I know is nasa Subic sila and she's pregnant with my child.

Day by day, I'm trying to accept that I'm wrong, that I just hurt Claire. I just hurt the mother of my child physically, mentally and emotionally.

My family helped me to realize the things, I know I'm wrong and naging selfish ako. Now, I need to know where is Claire.

Mom suggested na mag stay lang ako dito sa house for at least a week. But still, I'm working parin.

I'm in the garden, realizing the things I need to realize before meeting with Claire.

I'm about to exit the garden and go upstairs when someone called my name.

"S-sandro?"

I approached her for a hug, but she stepped back and seems so scared.
