Derek had no idea the last time that he felt this happy. Well, he was always happy when he was with Meredith but there wasn't anyway to describe how happy he was feeling in this moment and he walked hand in hand with Meredith out of her doctor's office after their first appointment together. He hadn't been there for the first appointment or for when she found out there was going to be baby so he vowed to be at every appointment after that.

There was a permanent smile on his face as they walked down the hall towards his office. Neither of them were working but they wanted some time to digest what the doctor had told them. Meredith was healthy, the baby was healthy and everything was going normal and on schedule just how it should be. The doctor wanted Meredith to take a little bit more time off of work until the morning sickness got a little bit better, but all in all, everything was amazing and Derek couldn't explain the joy that he was feeling.

"I still don't understand why I can't work. Pregnant women have morning sickness...and still do their jobs."

"Not all pregnant women are doctors in a one of the busiest hospital in the country."

"But she said I needed to be able to eat and keep down a full meal...that's not fair."

"Yes it is." Derek chuckled as he unlocked the door to his office.

"Is Bailey torturing my interns?"

"She's Bailey."

"I'm fine to work." She frowned, falling back into his couch.

"Not according to Dr...I forget her name." He laughed, sitting next to his wife.

"Samson...and she's an idiot."

"She seemed pretty smart to me...all those certificates on the wall."

"Fake." Meredith crossed her arms. "She probably got them online somewhere."

"I hope not." Derek laughed, taking one of her hands.

"I bet the Chief would clear me. He can veto her choice."

"You can try."

"Hmm..."

"The sonogram picture is in your purse right?" Derek breathed. "My mom's going to want to see it."

"Hmm..."

"It's completely perfect." She whispered.

"Hmm...And now you get to stay home with your loving husband even longer..."

"You have to go back to work."

"What if I took off the next week with you?"

"Derek....you can't do that."

"I can...I'll be on-call...But I'll be home with you."

"Derek." Meredith groaned, a hand falling on her stomach. "Morning....all day sickness doesn't mean I need a babysitter."

"Fine. I'll go to work...And you'll be alone all day." Derek sighed.

"Alright."

"Seriously?"

"Derek..."

"Sorry...Hovering."

"We need you to have a job."

"Fine...I'll go to work. But I'm only being away from you as long as I have to."

"Or I could just come to work now."
