Controller (Short)

Darkness. It's all this room has ever known, for no lights had existed here, and they never will. This is what the owner of this room wanted.

And yet amongst the darkness there was a small window where two people were standing.

“Astonishing is it not?” The first one said.

"Where's this coming from Ms Empress?" The second one said to the one known as Empress.

"Just look, all of those lights… it's a product of the empire we built." Empress stated as she looked at the other person in the room.

"I see. I apologise, my Empress." The second one said with a small bow.

"Please, raise your head strength. The two of us are equals. You do not need to bow down to me." Empress said, prompting her companion to look back up.

"But I still don't understand…" Strength said as she looked out the window.

"My thinking or…" She said trying to coax an answer out of strength.

"Your infatuation with that girl." She said coldly.

Empress didn't reply for a while. Instead she looked at the enormous metropolis that lay out the window.

"That is a question I cannot answer now, my friend." Empress responded as she left the window.

"Must you be this way?" Strength said with a sigh as she too left the window.
“Well, you don’t expect me to tell you everything. Do you?” Empress asked as she opened the door. Letting some light into the room in the process.

“Well no but-” Strength started before being cut off by Empress.

“Now, let us get going, I have something I would like to show you.” Empress said as she walked out the door.

Not wanting to be left behind, Strength ran after Empress,and caught up to her quickly. The two then arrived at the door to an elevator. It opened up and the two stepped inside as it closed behind them.

“My Empress, may I ask… Where are we going?”  Strength asked without turning her gaze to the taller woman.

“Oh~ Just a little place I like to unwind, it’s part of a hobby I have~” Empress answered in a songsy tone.

The elevator suddenly stopped and the doors opened, revealing a semi dark room, save for a few colourful lights that shone from different points in the room.

“Come along.” Empress said to Strength as she left the elevator.

“A-of course..” Strength said as she followed Empress.

“So, you wanted to know where we were going?” Empress asked her companion as she barely turned her head to look at her.

“I’ll be honest, I’m rather confused…” Strength said as she looked around.

“How come?” Empress said as she turned to look at her companion.

“You’ve seemingly invested all your time in that girl… and now you’re collecting what are these? Gemstones?” Strength said in a rather unimpressed way as she went to poke one of the stones.

“Wait, don't do that! It could kill you!” Empress called out to strength as the latter's body tensed up for a split second before her arms snapped to her sides.

“What the…” Strength said completely flabbergasted.

“As I was saying… this place is my little place for the spoils of war… and maybe somewhere to get ideas.” She said the last part with a wink.

"Ok… but what are these… gems?" Strength asked.

"Well first off, they're called cores. And second they are capable of granting unimaginable power." Empress answered

"But why not use them? Why have them locked up here?" Strength asked.

"It's simply not the right time yet…" Empress answered as a beep could be heard. In response to this, Empress tapped her ear.

"Oh good I finally reached you!" The voice of Observer Alpha could be heard over the coms.

"Sounds like there's a problem. Spill Alpha." Empress demanded.

"It's the battleship… She seems to hesitate. I fear she may try and back out." Alpha responded.

"Hmmm. That's a bit of a nuisance." Empress responded as she went into thought.

"Shall I have someone handle it?" Alpha asked.

"No, that won't be necessary." Empress responded after a moment of thought.

"Strength! Contact the others and tell them I will be unavailable for a while…" Empress commanded.

"Of course, but what are you going to do?" Strength inquired.

A sinister smile grew on Empress' face as her pink eyes glowed.

"Me? Oh I might go hunting for foxes… Ehehehe~"
