Once and For All

"Gotta Hurry!" Johnston said as she continued her mad dash to the docks.

"Wait, Johnston!" Samuel called out from behind her.

"What is it?" Johnston asked as she stopped running, and turned to look at Samuel.

"Where are you going? Wait, actually how did you get out?! Ah! Doesn't matter anyway, let's get you back to bed." Samuel said as she reached out and grabbed Johnston's hand.

"Ʉ₦Ⱨ₳₦Đ ₥Ɇ!" Johnston said with a scowl as she ripped her hand away from Samuel's grasp. Her voice sounded as if there were two people talking at the same time.

"J-Johnston?" Samuel asked, evidently scared by the sudden outburst.

The silver hair girl closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

"Sammy.... Gambier... she's going to die out there... I'm going to stop it... so please, let me go." Johnston said as she looked Samuel dead in the eyes, her voice tender yet full of determination.

"Then let-" Samuel was about to say something but was cut off by Johnston.

"No! If Gambier is in danger... then... then whatever is going to get her... it's strong. Extremely strong." Johnston said as she balled up her fist.

"But I have power... ehehe... lots of it. I'm the only one that can stop this... I know that." She said as she continued, a small grin grew on her face as black lightning arched all around her closed fist. Her tone sounded slightly unhinged.

"I'll kill it ehehe~ I'll kill them all if I have to." Johnston finished as she looked down at her hand and opened it, allowing the lightning to arch between her fingers.

"A-alright then p-please come back.... Alive preferably." Samuel said, some fear apparent in her voice, although Johnston didn't pick up on this.

"Don't worry! I'll bring us both back alive! Then.. we can all be happy together, that's a promise!" Johnston said, suddenly very cheerful again.

"R-right... well... go get em!" Samuel said still scared.

Johnston nodded before she took off towards the docks, her promise to Samuel ever present in her mind.

It had been a little while since Johnston left the base on her mission.

"Come on, come on!! We- I... come on I can get there in time!" She said to herself as she sped through the waves at breakneck speed.

"A̶̧h̷̠̳̻̺!̶̹̟͜ ̸͎͇W̶͔̲̥a̴̗̳i̵̢͙t̶̹̘̣ ̵̣̮w̶͖̹̦h̴̳̥̱̟a̴̜̼͕̳t̶̘'̴̹̹̮ș̷̹̭ ̵̲͉̬t̴̨͖̳ͅh̶̲a̴̜ţ̶͉͔?"Johnston asked herself while looking at a bright flash in the distance. Her voice somewhat distorted and again, sounded as if two people were talking.

"There... She's there! I'M COMING GAMBY!!!" Johnston yelled as she sped up, almost breaking the sound barrier.

She was approaching the area quickly, and within moments was close enough to see it. Yamato standing above Gambier, her blade pointed straight at Gambier's chest.

"Then I'll make this swift and painless." An unfamiliar voice said.

"I'm too late... no... NO WE'RE NOT!" She exclaimed in her mind as time felt like it slowed all around her, each motion she made felt like it took months to execute.

Once she was within striking distance she jumped into the air, attempting to tackle the Kitsune that towered over Gambier.

"GET OFF HER!" She yelled as she tackled her foe away from Gambier. She then got up quickly and punted the kitsune away from Gambier before going to check on her friend.
