Monday morning, Kate woke up earlier than usual because she needs to be at school. Bago tumayo, kinuha niya muna ang telepono and saw their professor's text.
From: Sir Noel Falcon
Hello! Good morning, students. I just want to inform all of you that don't bother going to school this week. We have a teacher's seminar, in short no classes for this whole week nevertheless, review your notes and do your pendings, we will resume our topic and I will be having a long quiz next week.
"Yes, I will be resting for a week!"
Nakita niya si Imee at Borgy sa baba, they're preparing their breakfast.
"Hey, aren't you going to school today? Hindi ka pa naliligo." tanong ni Imee habang niyayakap si Kate.
"Buti nalang I checked my phone before preparing myself, our teacher informed us na wala daw kaming pasok this week." she replied.
"Oh wow, that's good, makaka-rest ka." sagot ni Imee, inayos din neto ang buhok ng dalaga.
"Can I go with kuya Borgy sa Ilocos, pretty please?"
Tumingin naman agad si Imee kay Borgy at ngumiti.
"You can go but I can't be with you, love.." she answered.
"It's okay lang, I can handle myself. Thanks, tita!" masiglang tugon ni Kate sa tita niya.
"Okay then, you should get ready na. Aalis na kayo mamaya pero kumain muna kayo ng breakfast.."
"But... who will be with you here sa house?" pag-aalalang tanong ni Kate. She's an adult already pero baby padin ito sa mata ni Imee at ng buong pamilya.
"Oh dear, the maids are here, madami sila, don't worry about me. You should rest and enjoy doon sa Ilocos." Imee softly said, she held Kate's waist.
"And, I will come home tomorrow mom."
"Oh your kuya Borgy will be here, you will have peace in Ilocos.." Imee said in sarcastic way, palaging inaasar si Kate ng mga kuya niya pero agad naman itong ipinagtatanggol ni Imelda.
She's always taking her side.
"Okay, let's eat na? Baka malate ka pa, mama.."
They all went to the dining area to eat their breakfast, pagkatapos kumain agad namang umalis si Imee habang naghahanda naman si Kate sa mga gamit na dadalhin niya.
"Oh, careful.."
Tinulungan ni Borgy ang pinsan niyang dalhin ang mga gamit nito.
"Let's go kuya? Ready na ako and I'm so excited talaga!"
"Okay manang Alliana."
Irene Marcos-Araneta
I'm already in my room resting when my phone suddenly rang. It was mommy, so I quickly answered it.
"Mom, hello po.."
'Irene, anak. How are you?'
"Doing very well mommy, how about you? I hope okay ka lang po diyan.."
'Well I'm also good, nakakatampo lang kasi matagal na akong hindi binibisita ng anak mo.'
I laughed a little hard. Mahal na mahal talaga ni mommy si Kate, we all do.
"Maybe she's busy with her studies mom.." sabi ko, hindi ko din naman alam yung whereabouts niya because we don't have any form of communication.
'I think so too. Ikaw kailan mo balak umuwi dito Victoria?'
"I will ma, bibisitahin kita diyan. I miss that place, I miss you, I miss everyone."
'Anak, is three years still not enough? You gave Iya the space she wanted, don't you think that it's time to reconcile na?' tanong niya, it made me silent.
"We'll get there mama, malapit na.." I said plainly. Honestly, I still don't know. I'm still building my courage para humarap sa anak ko ulit.
"You should be reconciled with your daughter na. Irene, we're not getting any younger at si Kate, malaki na ang anak mo. Second year college na si Kate."
She's really convincing her to go home.
"I know mama.. Nag-iipon lang ako ng lakas ng loob, so that when I meet her again makakaya ko.. I'm expecting na din naman na she will throw harsh words to my face which I deserve.."
'Anak, don't say that..'
"No, it's okay mom. Totoo naman e, sa dami ng pagkukulang ko sa anak ko, hindi ko alam kung papatawarin niya pa ba ako."
'She will Irene, your daughter is a soft girl alam mo yan. Kahit maldita tignan at maldita minsan, nananaig pa rin ang pagmamahal sa puso niya.'
"I hope so mom, I hope so.."
'Take care of yourself, I'll end this na so you could take a rest. Good night anak,'
"Good morning to you mom, I love you. I'll see you soon.."
"I love you too, Victoria."
I drowned myself to sleep after our call since I've been so exhausted from work.
Kate Alliana
Nakarating na kami ni kuya Borgy sa Ilocos, it was early than expected. Ipinasundo na din kami ni kuya Matt sa airport, hindi alam ni mamita na I will stay with her. It's a surprise kasi ang tagal ko ng hindi nabibisita ang lola ko.
Pumasok ako sa bahay at nakitang nandun sila tita Aimee at Mamita sa sala, nag-uusap.
"Hi!" sigaw ko, they were surprise as expected. Ngumiti naman agad si tita Aimee ng makita ako.
"Kate Alliana Viktoria!" Mamita opened her arms, initiating a hug which I gladly accepted.
Ah, I missed this feeling.
Always felt like home.
"I missed you so much, mita!"
Niyakap ko pa siya ng mahigpit, she kissed my forehead and caressed my hair.
"I missed you too! What have you been doing at ang tagal mo akong hindi binisita?"
"Sorry mita, grabe yung schedule ko but I'm here diba, that's the important thing. Hi tita Aimee, it's so nice to see you!"
"Hello Iya, sup?" sabi ni Aimee, she hugged her niece.
"Still the same, nothing changed tita.. I'm going to stay here for a week, mamita ah. I don't have a class eh."
"Of course you can, sino pala ang kasama mo dito?"
"Kuya Borgy, I think he's still outside.." I replied and sat down beside her,
"You're so dalaga na! Pretty girl," Tita Aimee exclaimed as she caress my hair.
"Well.."
"Pretty like mommy.." Mamita cutted me, I just smiled at her awkwardly. I know who she refers at.
"Hehe, syempre mana ako sainyong lahat." I interjected to change the topic.
"Mita, tita, I'll rest muna, napagod ako eh.." they nodded as I stood up, kissed their cheeks and proceeded upstairs.
