Irene's condition is still unstable, they stayed in the hospital as the staff provided a room for them since they can't all enter the Intensive Care Unit. Oxygen is the main system that supports her in her breathing, a lot of tubes were attached on her body to help her survive. The doctor confront them about the 50/50 chance of survival, they were all devastated after the neurosurgeon informed them that Irene got a light brain hemorrhage.
The next day, Alfonso and Janella devastatingly arrived at the hospital. Kate needed to leave to attend her recognition, she was hesitant at first but Imee told her to attend and gets back after. When they arrived, the ceremony immediately started, Kate received a ton of awards. Imee is motioning her to smile but she just can't knowing that her mother is still inside the ICU without a proper assurance if she'll survive or not. Kate's eyes are swelled, she doesn't have any energy for this event but she needs to give her speech. She slowly walk towards the stage and heave a sigh before she starts talking. She became emotional in the middle of her speech but compose herself right away.
"To my family, who became my support system especially my mama Imee who's always there for me, thank you so much. I would also want to express my gratitude to my mother, Irene Marcos, thank you because if you're not here I wouldn't be here also, It's sadden to tell that she can't attend this momentous event because she's currently facing an immense obstacle in life. Allow me to convey my open letter for my mother, as everyone witnessed and observe it was mama Imee who'd they always see everytime there is a school event, some of you may think that she's my mom but she isn't nevertheless she's my second mother. My mom is named Irene Marcos-Araneta but she's not an Araneta anymore that's not a secret, my mommy and I didn't have that good relationship with each other because of some misunderstandings, like what teenagers usually do, I also throw such hard words to my mom which I wish I shouldn't do, which I wish I should have left it unsaid but I did and that's my biggest regret. To my mommy, I know you can't hear this but I want you to know that I've never stop loving you, I have always care for you, sorry if I was too blind with my pain. I sincerely apologize for all the things I've done that hurt you, I know I barely say this but I love you, I love you so much." Kate emotionally and sincerely remarks, Imee on the other hand didn't think twice to record her niece's speech, she hopes that Irene could see this when she wakes up, hopefully.
Kate finished her speech and went back to her seat, she excused herself from all her teachers, she don't want to stay any longer, she wants to be with her mom. The teachers understands her so they immediately agreed. Kate and Imee directly went to the hospital, she told Imee that she wants to talk to her mom so she nod and waits for her outside the ICU to give her a privacy.
Kate carefully sat beside the hospital bed as she slowly held her mother's hand, she kissed it as tears started to fall down to her cheeks.
"I've made it mama, kunti nalang and you'll have a lawyer na. You need to fight, okay? Don't leave me, we still need you. I know this is funny to hear knowing that I once wished na sana lumayo ka sakin, but I never said na ganito yung mangyari. You are always part of my prayer everyday, praying for you and kuyas safety and good health. I don't know if you'll believe me but I've always care for you, hindi ka po nawalan ng puwang sa puso ko. I maybe told you na hindi na kita kailangan, na wala na akong pakialam sayo but I that was all a lie. I thought I don't need you anymore, but I realized that I need you, always in all ways. Too bad you'd never seen me receiving this awards, I've made up my mind na panaman and agreed to mama Imee na ikaw yung sasama sakin sa stage to receive all of this. This is all for you and I admit, ikaw parin yung naging inspiration ko kasi remember I told you idol kita and it will always be the same. You're a strong person so I expect that you won't give up easily, wag kanang susuko please, don't break my heart again.." Kate uttered, holding her mother's hand.
"I'm sorry mommy, please fight, you need to fight. Hindi ko mapapatawad ang sarili ko kung may mangyaring masama sayo. I'm too selfish, I hurt you and I'm so sorry my Selene. I need you mommy, I need you." Kate cooed as she sob quietly.
Kate carefully stood up and planted a soft kiss on her mother's forehead, she also kissed the back of her hands before heading out. Imee rubs her back and give her a hug, they made their way to their room where the other family members are.
"Congratulations, nak!" Bongbong exclaim softly as soon as he saw Kate opening the door. He immediately stood up and hugs Kate tightly, followed by her cousins except for Janella.
"Kuya, I'm sorry.." Kate uttered when Alfonso approach her for a hug. Kate's tears are starting to flow to her cheeks, Alfonso smile weakly and hugs his sister.
"I'm sure that mommy is so proud of you." Alfonso whispered which made Kate cried more on her brother's shoulder. Janella is narrowing her eyes to Kate, tears were also forming in her eyes because of madness until she can't fight it anymore and stood up.
"How can mommy be proud to a lady na siyang may kasalanan kung bakit siya nandito?" Janella asked firmly but in her low voice, Kate bowed her head because she thinks that what she's spitting is true.
"How dare you! Pano mo nagawa kay mommy 'to. Bakit hindi ka makasagot?" Janella added, pointing her fingers to Kate which made Imee and Liza's eyebrows raised. Luis is already telling Janella to stop but she don't want to.
"Kasalanan mo kung bakit nandito si mommy, and also, where'd you get the courage para pumunta pa dito? After you treat her like a stranger? After you treat her like she's not your mom may lakas ng loob ka pang pumunta dito? Ang kapal ng mukha mo!" Janella shouted, she was about to slap Kate when Imee prevents. She held her wrist hardly.
"Don't!" Imee shouted, narrowing her eyes to her.
"Don't you dare slap my niece kasi wala kang karapatan, how dare you to say those words and how dare you to slap her, hindi nga namin masaktan yan ikaw pa?" Imee asked firmly, moving in between of Kate and Janella.
"Iha, nakakalimutan mo atang nandidito kami?" Liza asked, raising her brows. Janella fell silent, her heart is beating fast witnessing the two woman scolding her.
"I'm just saying-
"Saying what? Facts? That's not a fact iha, mag-aral ka muna and you should know what really happened first before freaking out." Liza cuts her line, crossing her arms.
"Calm down, everyone!" Bongbong exclaimed that made everyone shut their mouth.
"Can we please stop this? Kayong dalawa, hindi ba kayo titigil? Nag-aaway parin kayo? Yung nanay niyo nasa bingit na ng kamatayan oh. Please, for now stop that! Just now!" Bongbong ordered the two ladies, Janella looked Kate and went back to her seat.
"She's right mama, this is all my fault. I'm sorry, you should've not scold her." Kate told Imee whispering as she smile weakly, Imee abruptly shook head telling her that it's not her fault.
"Tito! Tita! Mommy! Tita Irene is in critical condition again, bumaba nanaman po yung heart beat niya!" Borgy informed them as soon as he opened the door, everyone stood up, hurriedly running towards the ICU.
They saw doctors and nurses entering the room, the doctor is currently doing CPR. Kate & Janella started crying on their brother's shoulders.
"Clear!"
"Please fight, mommy."
"Lumaban ka ading ko."
"You got this, tita.."
They started praying in silence, while witnessing the doctors trying to make Irene in stable condition. She's losing her heart beat and they're also losing their hope, feeling so devastated as of the moment..
