(Author's Note: I never finished the whole "April prompt list" thing... and I wanted to get back to it eventually, but it never happened. Since then I hadn't posted anything here of this AU, though I've written a couple stories. So now I'm gonna post them and move on. I got through 5/7 prompts, and that's good enough for me!)

Summary: When Gem dies, Impulse wastes no time to help her get back up on her feet. Even if it's early in the morning, he'll be there to help a small Gem out!

Requested by TargetTek over at AO3 for "Dadpulse" content. I delivered, because it needed to exist!

GeminiTay was blown up by a creeper

It was two in the morning. Gem shouldn't be up this early.

(Of course, neither should Impulse, but he's got a factory to complete, and the Boatem crew gets too distracting for him to complete anything during the day. And it's cooler out at night, meaning the building process is less miserable.)

That being said, nobody responded to the message in chat, meaning most were probably asleep. If Impulse had to guess, the members nearest to Gem were either asleep or distracted with something. Given all he was doing was building...

Impulse shrugged. Why not go help a friend out ?

(And besides, little Gem was absolutely adorable, so who wouldn't take up the chance to babysit her?)

Before taking off to the fantasy cottage-core-esc mega-base, Impulse flew out around his own factory to check on the progress. The smokestacks weren't near finished, but he'd been making so much consistent progress as of late that a detour wasn't too detrimental to its completion.

Grabbing an emergency shulker box (the essentials for if he ever did have to help out someone post-death for a few days) and an extra stack of rockets, Impulse made his way out of Boatem.

Thankfully the flight to Gem's didn't take too long, only a few minutes. He hadn't wasted too much time, and given there were no more messages, he assumed things were relatively fine. Before forgetting, he sent in a quick message to the main chat so the others could be assured Gem was in good hands, though these "good hands" could be questioned as texting while flying wasn't exactly... SMRT of him.

Despite this, Impulse made it safely to her place, which, while not infested with monsters, was not what the hermits called 'Scar safe'. Apparently things needed to be Gem safe too, if she was dying to creepers.

While taking a quick fly around the place, Impulse found the fallen gear and crammed them into the space that was left in the emergency shulker box. Soon he realized he'd need to place things more neatly, as there were just that many items on Gem when she'd died. Still the reorganizing was done quickly, and he'd thank himself for spending the extra time to sort things out when searching for one specific item later. Dumping out the entire contents of a shulker box wasn't exactly fun.

With the load on his back just a little bit heavier, Impulse made his way over to the small house overlooking this entire woodland wonderland. He'd been over a couple times, always enjoying walking through and admiring the style, but it was too dark now, and he'd spent enough time getting distracted from making it to Gem. (Who knew how well she was fairing being home alone for this long.) Impulse picked up his pace, and when making it to the building, he announced his coming.
