I need a hero to save me now (pt. 3)

Summary: Moon's big and the earth decides it's got too much pent up energy so it moves beneath the hermits.

Needless to say, both of these events aren't "normal" to Minecraft at all.

And that's very concerning to Mumbo.

Warnings?: Mentions (only light mentions) of a little hermit having accidents as well as earthquakes and anxiety filled internal conflict. So if that ain't your cuppa tea, you can skip this part. That being said, everything else is everyone friendly!

It was getting late. Dinner had been eaten, teeth had been brushed, and pjs had been slipped on. Now all that was left was mandatory story time, which Pearl had gotten good at. All her expressions and voices she made while reading dialogue resulted in uncontrollable amounts of laughter from the still fairly young Mumbo. This time she was reading The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe and they were to the part of the Turkish delights—so yes, now Mumbo was practically begging for a snack.

"If you ask again, to bed with you," Pearl said with no trace of annoyance. "And we don't want to go to sleep just yet do we?" She gave a goofy grin and started tickling him, resulting in even more laughter—almost to the point he couldn't breathe. Even she was laughing, and though it was much calmer, it was obvious she was finding amusement in this game of theirs too.

"I'm gonna get-chu!" she exclaimed again, going in for another attack.

"Stop! Stop!" Mumbo tried to squeal, instead dissolving into giggles. He kicked harshly against her and finally they stopped.

"Ok..." Pearl gave an exaggerated sigh and a few pants of breath. "We're done now..." At that, Mumbo sat up properly and gave her a goodnight hug. This was how they'd been spending their nights for the last little while. It helped the parts of Mumbo that got anxious without a proper schedule in place. If they did the same thing every night, he wouldn't be able to act out of line and nothing new would happen to catch him off guard.

"Sweet dreams," Pearl said, returning the hug with a tighter squeeze.

"Good night!"

After he was tucked in and the nightlight was turned on, Pearl shut the door and the room was filled with silence.

He almost wished it weren't so. Silence was helpful in some cases, but it was so quiet that it left him feeling something else was there. What if there were really really bad monsters outside that he didn't know about. What if Pearl somehow got hurt in the next hour? What if the only one who was caring for him died and he had to take care of her?

"No... that's silly," he said to himself in a whisper. "Pearl... she knows how to take care of herself."

Even still, he had to sit up to investigate what was giving him such a weird feeling. After looking under the bed and in the drawers and chests scattered around, he peeked outside his window.

"Everything's fine..." he said, a bit disbelieving. "Nothing to worry about tonight."

That was when he saw it. The moon looked bigger than usual. "That's silly. The moon can't be getting bigger." Sometimes pointing out the irrationals in a situation helped calm his nerves. Not always, but sometimes.

"Maybe... maybe Pearl wouldn't mind if I asked her about it." She could only be so mad with him getting out of bed. So carefully not to disturb the sheets too much, Mumbo climbed out of bed again and walked out the door quietly. If nothing else, the monsters wouldn't be able to hear him get up so they wouldn't know to move out from around his bed. But besides, he was a super hero! No monsters had a chance on him!
