Lizzie POV
The entire flight my nerves were crazy and now that I'm walking up to my door they are even worse.
I'm about to hurt a man I've loved for 4 years.
I've shared so much with him. A home, a bed, my life. And now I'm about to tell him that I'm not in love with him anymore.
I feel horrible but I know it's better to talk about now before it gets too far.
"Robbie?" I call to him as I open the front door and smile at the goofy wig he has on as he struts down the hall. What a goofball.
"Hey, sweet girl." He greets and pulls me into a hug. "How did everything go? Is Y/N okay?" He asks and takes the wig off.
"Why were you wearing that?" I ask, an amused smile on my lips.
"I was giving your fans what they wanted." He explains and I laugh. Oh no.
"You're a goofball. Y/N is okay, um. She's with her family." I offer and he nods.
"And did you talk about being friends again? Without pushing too hard?" He asks and I nod.
"Um, yeah, kind of. I uh. We have a lot to talk about." I tell him and he nods as he takes my suitcase from my grasp, wheeling it down the hall.
"Like the feelings that seeing her stirred up?" He asks and my stomach drops. I mean, I know I kind of told him already but I feel horrible that I left him here alone knowing I was confused.
"Yeah um those." I agree and start to unpack the case once he sets it on our bed.
"I'm all ears." He confirms and I know I shouldn't be scared. He always hears me out and helps me process all my emotions. We wrote a whole children's book about how to deal with anxiety and emotions. He's the sweetest man.
"I just...I don't even know where to start." I reveal with a sigh, sitting down on the edge of the bed.
"How about, seeing her again? How did that feel?" He asks and my mind flashes to the moment I laid my eyes on her at the award show. I hide my smile and turn to put away the clothing from my suitcase before speaking.
"I felt...it felt like something unlocked in my brain. Like, she was hiding in there somewhere and the minute I saw her, all of the memories came back. It's like I rediscovered her and it opened a Pandora's box of emotions." I try to explain and he nods.
"You've described her as the love of your life...when we first met that's what you said." He reminds me and I nod, feeling horrible about it. I rambled about her when we first met and somehow we still ended up here, engaged.
"Yes but...that doesn't mean I can't have more than one love right? I loved you, I never lied to you about that." I defend quickly hoping he knows that my feelings for him were never fake or forced.
"...yeah, loved." He points out and I sigh when I realize.
"Robbie, I'm...I'm struggling with all the conflicting emotions but I do know that I love you. I just...I'm not in love with you anymore and it's breaking my heart knowing that I'm hurting you." I explain slowly as tears fill my eyes.
"I know...I knew the minute you told me you saw her again." He shares quietly and I look up at him in surprise.
"You...you knew? Why did you let me see her then? To fly across the country for her?" I ask in complete confusion.
"Because I knew if you didn't, you'd wonder and you wouldn't find what you needed to find." He explains and I scrunch my eyebrows in confusion.
"What did I need to find?" I ask and he shrugs.
