Chapter 43:

Alora pulls the trigger as I step in front of her, and a gunshot echoes throughout the room.

Someone slams into me from the side and I fall onto the floor.

'Are you crazy!' Alora screams dropping the gun.

I look up and see Adriano on top of me.

'Fuck, I love your impulsiveness but for the love of good stop trying to get yourself killed.' He mutters as he gets up.

He extends his hand and helps me up. I look at Xuan and see that he's still alive but staring at me in shock.

'Why would you walk in front of me!' Alora says running to me.

I look at Adriano and see that the bullet grazed the top of his shirt. It's shattered a window behind Xuan.

'You guys haven't let him explain,' I reply. 'Innocent until proven guilty right?' I shrug straighten out my shirt.

Vittoria walks over and she's glaring at me. She grabs my arm.

'It's not your job to interfere with matters that don't involve you.' She spits.

'Get your hands off her,' Adriano snarls.

'At least let him explain, there would be an innocent mans blood in your hands.' I snarl snatching my arm off her.

She glares at me but I don't back down. I'm not scared of Adriano why would I be scared of her?

She turns to Adriano.

'Keep your little bitch on a leash.' She snarls.

'Watch your tongue.' He snarls.

She walks to the door and turns to the bodyguards.

'Put all the prisoners in their cells except for Xuan.' She commands. They nod and walk towards us while she leaves the room.

'What do we do know?' Zoya asks as the Blondie and two men are dragged out of the room.

'We trust Dilara,' Lorenzo says.

Terzo and Alessandro walk towards us until we're all standing in front of Xuan. Me in the middle and Adriano to my right.

'Your insane,' Amira says laughing.

'What do you want to do now pazza?' Adriano asks.

I step towards Xuan and take off his gag.

'You have a death wish,' he says looking up at me.

I shrug and step back.

'I wanna hear what you have to say,' I explain.

'I know who those people are,' Xuan says.

'Next thing you say better show you're innocent,' Alessandro says.

'They work for my parents, but I had no idea this was going to happen,' he quickly explains. 'I have nothing to do with this.'

'Then why is Blondie saying you'll betray us the same way you betrayed them?' Terzo asks.

'Of course they're going to try get me killed after I changed mafias,' he says. 'Believe me I wouldn't have come to this mafia if I wanted to attack it, I could easily do that from outside.'

'Don't kid yourself,' Alora laughs. Xuan smirks at her.

'But I mean it,' his smirks drops. 'I have no idea that they planned this and I have no idea what they have planned in the future.'

'What do you think?' I ask turning around to face everyone.

'Sounds legit,' Terzo says.

'He's right there's no need to get into a mafia when you can attack it perfectly fine from the outside.' Alessandro says.
