Frank really wanted Gerard to ask him out, because honestly, this was getting totally stupid.
They'd kissed a total of four times now, they held hands almost anywhere they went, and every minute they spent together they may as well have been fused together by the skin. Why not put a label on it?
But here's the thing: Frank wanted Gerard to ask him. After the whole lunchroom thing, Frank was still a little cautious about asking bold questions like that. As much as he wanted to date Gerard, his fear of getting rejected was infinitely stronger.
Also, he was new to this whole relationship thing. In movies and stuff, the guy always asks the girl out. You can see how that's kind of a problem here.
There was another problem too: Frank's mom.
One part was that he had left his house, in case you forgot, and was now too nervous to go back. The second part was that he wasn't out to her.
It had never really been a big discovery for Frank about his orientation, and it had never really bothered him. However, he didn't know how his mom would feel, so he'd yet to tell her.
The good thing: Today was Saturday.
Frank woke up to the sound of ripping paper, with his arms empty, which was not how he had fallen asleep.
He sat up and looked around. Gerard was bent over his dresser, scribbling something on a piece of paper. He hurriedly left the room before noticing that Frank was up. The door shut behind him. Curious, Frank pulled back the covers and went to read the note.
The Note:
-Frank, my friend had an emergency I had to go to hospital. You can stay here, listen to any CDs you want I'll be back soon. Love G.
Frank was a little confused.
For one, what friend? They'd talked before about how neither of them had any other friends, so either Gerard was lying about that or lying about where he was right now. Okay, ouch?
It then hit Frank what the last two words were.
Love, G.
He giggled.
