Frank kicked a rock with his toe as he walked, watching it skid and tumble across the cool asphalt and land with a little clattering noise to be kicked again a moment later.
It was cloudy.
Frank was pretty sure it was going to rain.
He kicked his rock, eyes to the ground. Why hadn't Gerard been at school? Was he okay? Was he avoiding Frank? There was no way to know; they hadn't exchanged numbers. Tomorrow was Friday. If Gerard wasn't at school tomorrow, he'd have to go another lonely weekend by himself. He knew how he sounded: obsessed, ridiculous, desperate. But really, he'd simply had a taste of what it was like not to be lonely, and now he was hooked. He hoped Gerard would be at school the next day. The rock clicked against the asphalt, rolling a little too far and falling into a storm drain, landing with a hollow-sounding clack.
Frank sighed.
