"You look so beautiful" the older nursing home residents complimented as Yeseul walked past them. Her awkward nature was always present, but she bowed politely and thanked them. Jaemin on the other hand wore a proud smile on his face as he viewed the girl graciously walk in her wedding dress which treaded along the floor
"Grandma, I'm here~" Jaemin cooed as he entered the room
"Are you really my son? You keep forgetting about me" she mumbled and Jaemin pouted
"Eomma~ don't be like that" Jaemin said with a bright smile. Yeseul stood at the door, watching the scene unfold. She hadn't seen much of Jaemin interacting with his grandparents, yet she could tell he loved them so so much, even if they can be a bit overboard sometimes. After all, he even called them mom and dad.
"I want you to meet my wife" Jaemin said excitedly and the woman raised her eyebrows. The clicking of heels on the floor made her turn her attention to Yeseul. Yeseul walked towards her after closing the door, approaching her bed
"Hi, nice to meet you, I'm Zhong Yeseul" she said with a bright smile and the grandma turned to Jaemin immediately with wide eyes
"I know, she's pretty isn't she?" Jaemin asked with a chuckle and Yeseul awkwardly chuckled
"Too pretty for you" the woman snapped back making Jaemin glare at her before doing something else in the room to use up his energy, he surely was excited today.
"You're too pretty for someone like him, what do you even see in him?" She asked, holding onto Yeseul's hand, fingers running over the simple wedding ring
"Grandma! You can't talk about your grandson like that! You have to be my wingman" Jaemin pouted, crossing his arms over his chest
"Stop overreacting, Yeseul right?" The woman said after scowling at Jaemin
"How come you two are...married?" She asked with a confused stare and Yeseul glanced at Jaemin before trying to look for something around to room to keep her eyes distracted, hinting to him that she wasn't going to say anything. The two played a game of 'lets see who breaks the tension first' until Jaemin could no longer sit still under his grandma's death glare
"Your husband tried to make me marry some random girl, it's not my fault!" Jaemin pouted and the woman sighed making Yeseul chuckle
"Why would he make you do that?" She asked
"He wants me to have a child, my health isn't getting better and neither is his. He doesn't want to leave the company in the hands of the board, so he just suddenly posted that i would marry a businesswoman. The directors in her business pressured her into accepting the marriage too" Jaemin said
"That's terrible, i get that you're going to inherit the business but...that's too much for you at this age, is your health getting worse? Yeseul honey sit down" the woman said nicely and she nodded, sitting on the chair next to Jaemin who sat at the edge of the bed
"The dress is lovely" the woman complimented as she watched her waddle around the room
"My health isn't getting better or worse, but its been steady recently...the doctors here said there's nothing they can do but Grandpa is searching for someone in Europe to perform the bypass" the words coming out of his mouth seemed hard to hear for Yeseul, just two seconds ago she was the most happiest girl on the planet, yet now she was facing the sadness of Jaemin's illness, but she vowed to herself to be there for him.
"Yeseul-ah, take good care of him" the woman smiled and she nodded the small chit chat was soon ended with the sound of ringing from Jaemin's phone, highlighting his grandad calling him for nearly the 120th time.
"Ignore him, enjoy the honeymoon. I'll talk to some sense into him" the woman said and Yeseul smiled, standing up and bowing to her as she watched Jaemin hug her and bid her goodbyes
"I'll call a cab" Jaemin said, stepping out of the room for a bit and she nodded
"Is it okay if I give you something?" The woman asked with a smile and Yeseul nodded
"Think of it as a wedding present" she said reaching to her bed stand to take out the emerald diamond necklace and earrings set
"No i-i...I couldn't" Yeseul said and the woman chuckled
"My husband gave it to me when on our first first anniversary... i want you to have it" the woman said, placing the jewel box into her hands and she bowed in gratefulnesses
"Jaemin loves really spicy food when he's feeling sad, he loves spending his money and time on people he likes but he deeply appreciates it when they don't take it for granted and aren't greedy. He doesn't always hold grudges but sometimes if it hurts his pride a lot, he tends to bring it up in big fights. He's a very sweet boy and doesn't get too angry but when he does he often says things he doesn't mean... his way of apologising is usually cooking a meal and giving a free massage. He doesn't like to be babied too much but he always wants your full attention, regardless of what you both are doing" the woman said with a smile as she talked about the boy
"He's really something" Yeseul whispered
"You'll learn to be patient with him sweetheart, just love him for who he is rather than what he does, he can sense it very quickly when someone's intentions are in the wrong place" she said and yeseul smiled
"Don't worry, I'll take good care of him" She said and the woman squeezed her hand reassuringly, the sound of the door opening making them both turn to Jaemin
"And you! Don't make her life too hard, your illness is just as stressful for her as it is for you" the woman said and Jaemin chuckled, saluting to her. He stepped towards Yeseul and wrapped his arm around her waist
"I'll go easy on her" he whispered, planting a small kiss to the top of her head lovingly
"Invite me to the real wedding" the woman said as she bid them goodbye with a proud and relaxed smile on her face.
