NORTH GRUNTED as she punched at the rubber punching bag hanging from the ceiling of the gym room. She threw a few more quick jabs at the bag, along with an uppercut and a right hook swing. Just as she was about to strike again...

BEEP-BEEP! BEEP-BEEP! BEEP-BEEP!

North sighed in exhaustion as her twenty-minute timer ended, sounding its alarm.

"Twenty minutes."

She then wiped her forehead with her arm before taking her red boxing gloves off and put them away with the other workout equipment.

A knock on the door caught North's attention, causing her to look to the side. "Yes?" She shouted.

North's father then opened the door and peeked his head through the space.

"Are you going to eat dinner now? Your mother just finished cooking." He informed her.

"Yes." North said, her father nodding before turning to leave. "Wait." She called out, her father raising his brows at her as he turned back around. "By the way, one of my friends has a little sister who needs tutoring and asked me if I could do it. I was going to tell her yes, but I wanted your permission first."

"Oh, well, when do you plan on going to tutor her?" North's father asked her.

"Weekdays after school. But I won't take too long. I'll be back before nightfall." North answered.

"Do me and your mother know this friend of yours?" North's father queried.

"Yes, you've met her before. Lyra? You remember? She has a younger sister." North lied, using the name of a different friend.

Well, not exactly lying. More like half-truthing. She did have a friend named Lyra with a younger sister who had met her parents before.

"...Oh, yes! Lyra. Now I remember. Well... I'll talk to your mother about it and see what she says, okay?" North's father told her.

"Okay. Thank you." North nodded, her father smiling at her before walking away, leaving the door open. North soon left the gym as well.

After receiving her bowl of food from her mother, she went upstairs to her bedroom instead of eating at the dinner table, taking a seat on one of her couches.
