《 underling 》
NORTH SLUNG HER BACKPACK over her shoulder just as the school bell rang, signaling that it was time for the students to be dismissed to their next class.
"If you didn't finish the work from today, take it home and finish it as homework." The teacher instructed.
North picked up her sheet of paper from her desk and handed it to her teacher, then she started to head out of the classroom without a word.
Just as she reached the doorway, she looked over her shoulder and saw a blue-haired friend of hers zippering up her bag, then she quickly went up to the teacher and gave in her work before scurrying over to North.
North then looked forward again and headed out the classroom with her friend following beside her.
"Hey, by the way, North?" Her British accent rung through North's ears. "Are you sure you're all right?"
Without turning her head, North's sight met with a pair of bright blue eyes filled with concern and curiosity, eyes belonging to Caitlyn Kiramman.
"Yes, why do you ask?" North asked her.
"I mean, you just... you have a look on your face." Caitlyn noticed.
"I don't." North denied.
With a small sigh, Caitlyn looked down silently as she traveled the halls.
North's eyes imitated hers, thinking to herself as her gaze locked onto the steps of her feet.
Caitlyn was a close friend of North's who she shared many classes with, which allowed them to spend plenty of time at each other's side.
She came from a political background similarly to North, with her mother a member of Piltover's councilors.
A curious girl, the young Kiramman strived to separate herself from the clay in which her parents used to mold her into who they wanted her to be.
She seeked adventure and exploration, but her parents never allowed her that freedom. They felt the need to shelter her from the world and its harsh reality, a reality only those in Zaun truly knew of.
Caitlyn had proven herself to be quite the kindhearted and trustworthy girl, but could North really trust her with a secret like hers?
After a moment of pondering her options, North decided that she probably could. Probably.
Caitlyn wasn't the type to spread rumors, nor was she the type to judge or shame people.
