"HEY, North?" Caitlyn called out as she exited her bathroom and went back into her bedroom, dressed in her enforcer uniform.
"Yes?" North responded, writing in her journal while sitting on Caitlyn's bed.
"I need you to cover for me." Caitlyn requested, North raising a brow as she stuck the end of the pen into her mouth.
"Not without a cause." She refused. "Where are you off to?" North inquired as she straightened her body.
"...I'm going to Stillwater Prison." Caitlyn told the truth.
North furrowed her eyebrows, giving a small tilt of her head. "Why?" She asked, taking her pen out from between her teeth.
"I need to speak with one of the inmates." Caitlyn replied. "That man on the ship knows something, and if I can just speak with him again, I might be able to find something out about our culprit. I just need you to make sure my parents don't find out where I am while I'm gone." She explained.
North narrowed her eyes at Caitlyn, reluctant and concerned by the idea.
"I'll come back as fast as I can. Please." Caitlyn pleaded.
North sighed as she got up from the bed. "Fine." She complied.
"Thank you." Caitlyn said appreciatively, flashing a big smile at North.
"Yeah, now you owe me. You know how your mother gets." North reminded, crossing her arm below her chest.
"If my mother asks any questions, just tell her that... I went to a friend's house or... something like that." Caitlyn advised.
"I got it. Stay safe. Don't get into any trouble, and come straight back home when you're done. And in case of emergencies..." North reached into one of her pockets, pulling out a small flare.
"I don't think I'll really need that. I'll be in and out fast." Caitlyn assured.
"You never know. Just take it." North urged as she placed a hand onto Caitlyn's shoulder and held the flare out to her.
Caitlyn stared at North for a moment, her gaze softening in understanding before she took the flare from her and putting it away.
"Be careful." North said before her and Caitlyn hugged each other.
North sat her chin on Caitlyn's shoulder and looked over to the side as she slid her hand onto the back of Caitlyn's neck.
Then, she carefully pressed a tiny device into Caitlyn's skin before breaking the embrace.
. . . . .
"I need to speak with one of the inmates." Caitlyn requested.
"Oh, folks in here aren't usually very talkative." The warden warned.
