3rd person P.O.V

It's been almost a year since the survivors found a safe enough shelter to reside at and think about where to go next. After the tragic incident that happened with the CEDA center, it left them starting off from scratch again. They found another group of survivors while traveling a few months back, with them being quite friendly. There was Francis, Louis and Zoey. The two groups first met when they had to stop at a closed bridge, unable to keep driving in Jimmy Gibbs car. The generator connected to it needed gas in order for Y/N's group to leave. She was a bit hurt by how much Ellis seemed to like Zoey in that short time, with her having developed a subtle crush on the mechanic. Months after travelling, the survivors were soon rescued on a Heli. It was after an infected horde charged after them on their bridge to escape. They were flown off to a CEDA evac center right after, somewhere safe at last.

The fighting made the group exhausted, but relief filled them upon realizing it was finally over. After having some tests run on them, Y/N and the group were free to wander around the place. Soon enough, they ran into the others that they met way back. The two survivor groups reunited, her being more saddened when Ellis was so excited to see Zoey again, more excited then any time she's ever been with him. But it didn't last for long, since they've noticed other survivors becoming sick with disease, all happening in a single day of being there. Worry and confusion struck the survivors, before some CEDA security guards forced them into a large tent together. Rifles aimed at their heads while they waited against the wall. The guards claimed that the newfound survivors were carriers, and them being here wasn't safe for anyone else. It explained the hazmat the suits they wore, their expressions full of detachment. Coach tried to reason with them, arguing to let the group leave if it was so unsafe. A single bullet fired into his skull, ending that plead. Blood splattered against the wall, filling the room with a stench of iron. The unexpected murder left Y/N and everyone else in shock of what happened, frightened and unsure on what to do next. They expected to die. Coach was the one who kept everyone calm and always knew what to do, without him.. what were they?

Before anything else could progress, there was screaming outside. Gunshots going off here and there. It caused the guards to pause at first, glancing towards the entrance of the tent cautiously. Without warning, a Charger rushed in and pummeled them into bloody mush. It was horrific, the room now reeking of iron and gore. Seizing the opportunity, Y/N shouted for the others and they ran out. They witnessed infected mowing down the few alive guards nearby. Everything was in ruin, people running around in fear, with infected survivors attacking others. Some were beaten to death by hordes, some others being torn apart by special infected. Having been looting the bodies, Francis snatched a gun from one of the crushed guards. He shot any infected that came near, saving the survivors some time to grab a weapon and supplies of their own. They ran. Ran as fast as they could. Running out of the torn open gates of the evac center, the 7 survivors didn't stop once or look back. After some time had passed, they made their way to a town in the distance, not too many infected there and enough to take care of easily. After a few hours of running and scavenging, the survivors reached an abandoned mansion out in the empty fields down a dirt road. Finding nobody inside, they were relieved and happy to be safe, finding food and numerous resources there. Since then, they've lived there and grown accustomed to the place.

Present day...

"Another one?" You asked yourself, noticing another little red rose on your upper arm, one that sure as hell wasn't there last night. You woke up on a cold rainy day and seen another one appear, worrying you even more. This has been going on for a few days to about a week, every so often the little flowers would grow anywhere on your body, making you cough them up now and then. It started off as small coughing fits, but they've grown worse over time. You've never witnessed any sickness like it. Whenever you tried to pluck them off or get rid of them in someway, a burning pain filled you to the point where it was unbearable. You're scared to talk to the others about it, thinking it might be changing you into a new type of special infected or something like that. It seemed stupid at first, but now that you think about it, it could be. It was unclear on how you could've caught such a disease to begin with, but it did end up starting when you developed that crush on Ellis. Speaking of the mechanic, it seemed that the flowers had flared up whenever you talked to or were near him. But since you didn't know for sure, you don't know what to do. They also caused you to cough up more whenever you saw Ellis and Zoey together, the flowers feeling like they filled your aching lungs and made your breathing labored. You couldn't help but feel jealous of the two, who seemed like the perfect pair. She was nice though, and you couldn't help but wonder if she was better for him? The thought of them together often made you upset with yourself and your flaws.
