"Ouch!" whined Mason for the hundredth time as Bella rubbed ointment on the bruises on his back. They were in their bedroom sitting on their bed. Mason had sat shirtless with Bella behind him. There were two bruises like two purple and black lines on his back.
"You are really a baby." huffed Bella and cleaned her hands with a tissue and grabbed the bandage. "You are a Don, for God's sake."
"I'm still a human, babe." hissed Mason in pain. "I can still feel pain. I was knocked to the bookshelves."
"That's your problem." said Bella and began to bandage his torso. "You shouldn't have let him hit you."
Mason frowned. "Hey, I'm offended." he said. "It's not like I let him hit me willingly. I'm a strong man, but I never claim to be the strongest. There are people out there who are stronger than me physically. And Silva was one of them."
"I should meet some of those strong men so." smirked Bella and the next second she yelped and laughed when Mason pinned her on the bed and hovered above her.
"You won't see any other men." mocked Mason. "I would kill them before you can meet them, love. That's a promise. You are mine."
"Okay, Okay." giggled Bella. "Now let me finish this so we can sleep."
Mason kissed her lips and then groaned as he sat up and clutched his back. "It's killing me." he grunted.
"You are not that old." said Bella and finished her work and kissed his nose lovingly. "You will live."
Mason grabbed his t-shirt and put it on, while Bella put everything aside and washed her hands in the bathroom. Thunder flashed into the room and Mason glanced at the window.
"I know the windows are soundproof," said Mason and walked to the door. "But I will check up on Shawn and Sofia once more before sleeping."
"I will come too." said Bella and looped her arm with Mason's as they walked out of their room with a smile.
But before they can enter the twins' room, Anna's horrifying scream filled the corridor and they looked in the direction and saw her guard jumping into the room.
The two ran to the room as well and heard another scream before they reached the door and saw the guard removing Xander roughly from Anna's body who was naked on the bed.
"Oh my god, Anna!" screamed Bella.
"What the hell is going on?" yelled Mason at the same time as he watched the guard punching his obviously drunken brother, knocking him out.
Bella ran to the bed and quickly covered the now unconscious Anna with the bed covers. "Mason, call an ambulance." ordered Bella with a serious tone and Mason looked at the guard who took the hint and quickly fished his phone out.
"Don't talk about this to anyone." warned Mason and the guard nodded and walked out to talk to his phone.
"Anna! Anna, dear, can you hear me?" called Bella and softly patted Anna's cheeks. The poor girl was as white as the sheets around her. "Mason, she is in a critical condition. Go and grab the vials and syringes I put in the drugs refrigerator downstairs, now."
Mason didn't waste any time running downstairs and he was back in less than four minutes. His heart skipped a bit once he entered the room and found Bella performing PCR. Jenkins, Anna's night guard had stood there with wide eyes, watching Bella. The man was pale himself, praying under his breath for the angel he was guarding for the past weeks.
"Mason, inject her with both. quickly!" yelled Bella while massaging Anna's chest. "Come on, Anna. You can't leave us."
Mason quickly sat on the bed and injected both small vials into Anna's hand. "Come on, Anna." he mumbled under his breath, clenching his teeth. "I promised your sister to keep you safe. You can't leave her."
