Damien entered the pin of the penthouse's door and unlocked it. He went in and closed the door softly behind him. It was half-past midnight and he didn't want to wake up Ashley who was a light sleeper. He had not seen her properly for a week and to say he had missed her was an underestimate. He took off his shoes and walked inside the living room.
"Damien!" Ashley's angelic voice graced his ears. His heart fluttered and he smiled when he saw Ashley curled up on a couch. A blanket was around her and she had a book in her hand. "You are home!"
She stood and put the blanket on the couch revealing her lilac thin strap nightgown. She quickly walked into his open arms and they hugged each other tightly.
Damien buried his face into her golden curls and inhaled deeply. "Goodness, I have missed you. You look ravishing." he grunted and pulled her more into his arms, letting the comfort of having her in his arms warm up his body. "Sorry that I was not home so much in the last week."
Ashley pulled away and looked into his eyes and smiled warmly. "It's okay. I understand." she said and her mesmerizing green eyes shone brightly like two gemstones and melted Damien's heart.
He couldn't resist anymore and leaned down, captured her soft lips, kissing her with every ounce of love he had in his heart. Both of his hands tangled in her golden locks and he pulled her face closer and feasted on her lips. His body heat up as she returned the kiss with the same passion and her hands rubbed his chest gently.
They pulled away after a while and pressed their foreheads together. "God, I can't get enough of you." whispered Damien and pecked her lips one more time before pulling away a bit.
"Go and take a shower." said Ashley and caressed his cheek. "I will warm up some food for both of us."
"You have not eaten yet?" frowned Damien and groaned when she shook her head. "Ash, you should take care of yourself."
"I know, I'm sorry." she said innocently. "It's just hard to eat without you."
Damien kissed her forehead and then released her and walked toward the stairs. "I will be back soon." he said.
He walked down 15 minutes later, wearing sweat pants and a t-shirt, and found Ashley in the kitchen, serving food on the dining table. He walked behind her and curled his arms around her slim waist and planted a kiss on her shoulder, making her sigh and lean her head back and put it on his chest.
"Is the problem solved?" she whispered as Damien continued to plant gentle kisses on her shoulder blade. "Are you going to stay home at nights from now on?"
"Yeah, I am." answered Damien and sucked on her earlobe, earning a slight moan from his angel. "As much as I want to have you right now, first let's eat."
He sat on a chair and pulled her to sit on his lap before she had a chance to pull out another chair.
"Damien!" chuckled Ashley. "Let me sit on my chair."
Damien smiled and tightened his hold on her waist while arranging the two plates in front of them. "No, thank you very much." he said and held a fork with food in front of her mouth. "Open up, babe."
Ashley frowned and pulled her head away and snatched the fork out of his hand. "I can eat myself. Thank you very much." she said mockingly and began to chew the food angrily while still glaring at Damien.
Damien laughed at the funny face she had made and she smiled while butterflies danced in her belly. She had missed his laughing a lot, she had missed his presence that would fill her heart with a sense of safety and love, a promise that everything would be fine.
